1/$12MM with incentives that could bring in another $2MM or so. Glad to see this. He reportedly turned down a 2/$20MM deal last week.
I hope to see the team make him a longer-term offer.
More reason for a salary cap/floor. Lets say the luxury tax threshold is the cap and leave the rules the same on the top. A team that fails to spend a reasonable amount on payroll would lose their revenue sharing that season. Put that amount at $75MM, maybe and the players should be OK with it.
Joel Sherman suggests that a player get 2 runs for a homer that is longer than the top 50 longest homers from the last season.
Also, a courtesy runner, as was allowed until 1950. A player can be the designated runner and run for a player without removing that player from the game.
This is one thing I like about baseball, as opposed to the other sports. You live with the players that you have on the field, in the batting order they are in. No changes without removing a player.
Whatever you say about fantasy baseball, Brett. How else do they come up with rankings and values? Past performance and projections, both of which are analytically directed.
I'm not sure Yu is even that high. He is a good pitcher, but not sure he is that good. There are a lot of great...
Not always. I've been involved in a league that has been around for 15 years and it keeps going really. I seldom make roster moves in that league, unless someone is injured or a rookie comes up that I am interested in.
Sorry Brett. MLB Network is very analytics oriented. If they don't even mention Quintana, he isn't among the top pitchers in the game. Also, if you don't think fantasy baseball takes analytics into account when ranking players, you are less informed than you should be.
By the way, when did...
Sorry to disappoint everyone, but I have watched thousands of baseball games in my life. I know what I see on the field and as I have said, Quintana is a very good pitcher. He may be the best pitcher on the Cubs team, but he needs a bit more experience before I would put him in the top 10. He...
Brett, its wonderful that you live inside a book or a computer while I am actually watching the game played on the field. Have a wonderful time playing with your statistics and I will continue watching the game as its supposed to be played.
Again, Darvish to the Cubs is a great pickup. ...
Brett, lets try this angle. Let Quintana grow into the ace you think he is. Let him pitch a full season without all the pressure you'd put on him. I wouldn't want to go up against DeGrom, Bumgarner, Scherzer, Kershaw, etc for a full season. Lester and Darvish have far more post-season...
As I said, Quintana is not a top 10 pitcher. Look at the fantasy values. Quintana is valued at $20 this season, ranking 18th among
starters. There are 3 relievers that are worth more also.
Again I will say that you don't need to be a homer for Quintana anymore. He isn't with the White Sox...
Again I will say that Quintana is a very good pitcher, one I would love to have on my team. As to top 10, he isn't there. I watch a lot of baseball and have since well before you were born. I do not need to look at obscure stats to determine how good a player is.
Quintana is a very good pitcher, not near the top 10 in the game though. He might be a better pitcher than Darvish and Lester, but I would still put him in the #3 slot.
