So youre saying that they should be given the benefit of the doubt when all past history shows that they shouldnt?

Rather than feel the need to defend them, why dont you just let them prove people wrong? Nobody hangs a banner for the respect they were or werent given in the regular season.

Coach, its not like people bring that shit up out of nowhere and for no reason at all

Theres history of them three underperforming/disappearing/getting exposed in the playoffs

Until they prove people wrong, the narrative wont change. So lets wait and see what happens in a few months

morris hit about 2-3 more shots than he normally does, and kyrie had about 2-3 that were in and fell out. consider that a wash overall
and rozier's isn't a fluke; he's scored 14+ in 8 of the past 13 games.

monroe def had a huge game, wont deny that. his +23 offset horford's awful -22 day, and made the game close. but this was literally gordon's best game all season and was hitting ridiculously contested shots with ease.

When LeBron went to Miami with Bosh and wade people had big expectations but I dont remember them saying that first year that they would choke in the playoffs. When they didnt win it that first year then the critics came in, and rightfully so.

I know the history of all 3. You gotta give them a chance to prove you wrong though before saying they will choke. Rockets are 30-something and 3 when CP3 and Harden both suit up. Regular season or not, thats dang impressive. And you have to think that it is a positive indicator of future success.

When the Warriors won 70-whatever, people werent saying yeah but its the RS. Wait for Curry to hurt his ankles again.

Wade had a ring already, not a resume of disappearing acts. Thats the difference.

Bron had a finals appearance with a bunch of trash around him, thats the difference.

No one said the Heat would choke because they didnt have a past of disappearing acts and underwhelming performances, especially in elimination games

But since you brought this up, what do people say about Lebron and the Mavs final? That he choked, that he disappeared. How many years did that follow him around? Even after winning three rings people wont forget it. Thats the blackmark on his resume EVEN after winning so much

So you expect people to forget your 3 guys’ resumes just because they have a new team now and we should give them a chance? We are giving them a chance, thats why i said lets wait to see what happens in the playoffs. But the past cant just be forgotten.

People go by ‘what have you done lately’ so CP3 getting past the 2nd round, Harden performing well in big games, and Dantoni not getting exposed would really help them but that doesnt mean people will forget the past.

BP, i hear your point, and I do accept it. You cant deny it. I just believe that after watching this team for 3/4 of the season, maybe this is something bigger than their past. MDA's teams never played defense, yet this one has been hovering around the top 10 in defensive efficiency all season. With their big 3 on the court, this team has lost 1 game all year long (I'm pretty sure that's still the case). Harden's disaster in Game 6 last year was of exhaustion and him giving up. He hasnt had to work nearly as hard this year and has a guy who can help carry the weight at his level for the first time. You can say the same for CP3. They have each never played with someone as good as the other (Dont @ me about Harden with OKC, Harden's true career began when he got his own team).

There are some pretty solid reasons to believe that this Rockets team is a legit contender. I am a firm believer in the fact that the Warriors are the best until somebody beats them. I won't believe otherwise until I see it, but this Rockets team has a legit chance. Especially if they hold on to this #1 seed.

Sorry, but I feel like a lot of people dump on the Rockets for performances in the past, but this is a new group and old circumstances don't always apply. This is easily the best team that CP3, Harden and MDA have ever been a part of. If they don't make the WCF, then we have the right to criticize them for not accomplishing what was expected of them. But until they do that, I do find it tiring to see pot shots taken at them for past failures. Those past ordeals came under different times and factors that don't apply this year.

It really wasn't intended to be a shot at the Rockets or any player in particular.  I was listening to Zach Lowe's podcast the other day and they briefly brought up the "what if" scenario I mentioned, and was curious what the fallout would be if that actually happened.

For the record, I don't see that happening myself unless Kawhi comes back to life and they draw the Spurs in the second round.  Even then, I doubt it.

Worst case is CP3 leaves for another team and Rockets are back in rebuild mode. The Rox match any offers Capela gets. Then they go hard core after LeBron to no avail.

That team would still be a 3-4 seed, not rebuilding at all
