Canes showed up to play tonight.
Duke cannot catch a single break either. Nothing going their way.

Let me correct myself to Top 50. God we suckI'm not convinced that Duke w/o Ryan Kelly is a top 30 team in the country.
Strongly disagree..They're playing the best ball in the country right now along with Florida, & Michigan.not too impressed with you guys this year.... you'll wni the league because its a steaming pile of garbage but i doubt you make it too far in the tournament.
no offense. I just really feel like this -might- be Self's worst team
Texas has one of the best defenses in the nation. At the time we played them I want to say they had the kenpom rated # 1 defense. And Iowa State will be a tournament team.I don't see how you can say they're playing the best ball in the country when they're barely beating scrub teams like Texas. I'm not hear to say that a win isn't a win but when you're judging who's playing the best, barely beating Texas and Iowa State doesn't qualify you
So you're playing the best ball but you're routinely struggling with garbage teams, got it.Strongly disagree..They're playing the best ball in the country right now along with Florida, & Michigan.
They're learning how to win ugly and teams are trying to use the stretch 4 method against us but KY & Perry can guard a 4.
Once Perry starts as our 4 we will become more dangerous because Jeff will stop being doubled.
Winning ugly means to win in grind it out games. You do realize our guys are fighting injuries as well. We had a godly stretch for a while...But we were shooting 45 pct from the 3 that was never gonna last. You also seem to overlook the fact that we have dealt with some injuries this year. EJ's knee is clearly not 100 pct. Ben is dealing with an ankle sprain and Jeff has the flu currently. Maybe that has hampered our offense a little bit.So you're playing the best ball but you're routinely struggling with garbage teams, got it.
Learning how to win ugly means that they're playing like crap. Iowa State is not a good team. Texas Tech is not a good team. Texas is not a good team. I'd even say that Kansas State is not a good team and if it wasn't for a fluke win vs Florida no one would think so.
Your offense has looked awful the entirety of conference play with the exception of the Iowa State game. That is not an opinion, that is a fact. 'Winning Ugly' is a euphemism for looking like shit. I exaggerated with worst Self team, they're probably better than his first couple go-rounds with Roy's leftovers and the year that Rush and Chalmers and company came in, but they are not playing good basketball at all. They're not playing great defense, they're just playing mostly inept offenses.
Again, you'll go 16-2 or 15-3 or hell, maybe even 18-0 because the Big XII is hot garbage this year, but KU is not a top-tier team. Take off the crimson and blue glasses or go back to the phog with that shit.
I do not give a shit about what happened last year in Austin. It's irrelevant for this discussion. KU struggled mightily with Texas this year (who sucks). I don't care about Self's struggles in Lubbock, they are (since we've decided to go the statistics route) random noise and not significant. KU played well below its standards against Tech.Winning ugly means to win in grind it out games. You do realize our guys are fighting injuries as well. And yes winning ugly..We won ugly pretty much all tournament last year with the exception of the UNC game. And for the Texas game..You guys do realize we barely beat them last year in Austin by 3..Self routinely struggles in Lubbock. Iowa state is an outlier.
Kenpom also says we're playing pretty solid defense..But let me guess you disagree with the numbers. Teams choose not to come inside against us and chuck 30 3's a game because we have the best shot blocker in the nation.
Texas is shit offensively but you guys really are underrating how good of a defensive team they are.I do not give a shit about what happened last year in Austin. It's irrelevant for this discussion. I do not give a shit about your injuries either. We are not talking about KU at 100%, we are talking about who is playing the best basketball right now, per your assertion. You say in one post that KU is playing the best in the country, then counter my post saying that they're playing like crap offensively with 'well we're injured'. The two statements are incompatible.
And, regarding your methodology
Kenpom is either accurate in your mind or it isn't. If we're trotting it out to say that KU is playing great defense, let's also take a look at the rest of it. It has KU at #7, which is around where I'd personally rank them based on what I have seen from them, which is far off your "best basketball in the control, along with Michigan or Florida" assertion. Speaking of kenpom, it also apparently agrees with my assertion that this is one of Self's worst teams (disregarding the Roy leftovers), which can be easily validated by looking through the rankings.
Again, I'm not trying to say that KU sucks and they're horrible, which is what you seem to be equating my statement as. All I said that was that I felt they were maybe the worst Self team (which I have since backed off of, though I think they're still firmly bottom-tier, which is still a fantastic basketball team. Self has set a pretty high standards).
I think that Michigan, Florida, Louisville, and Duke (with a healthy Ryan Kelly, without him, holy shit) is the top tier in college hoops this year. Next group is probably Syracuse, KU, and Indiana (not necessairly in any order).Texas is shit offensively but you guys really are underrating how good of a defensive team they are.
And yes I equated your statement that way..Because you're talking about how bad our offense is to you. When it happens our 2 main options are not 100 pct healthy. Maybe that's why we've been playing games in the 60's and 70's. I think this team is firmly in the middle ..I think personally they have more potential than last year's team but in the middle of Self's team overall.
I probably oversold them saying they're playing the best ball in the nation. But they are a top 5 team imo. We can agree to disagree on that.
That 2010 team never happened..FUCK why did you bring them up.I think that Michigan, Florida, Louisville, and Duke (with a healthy Ryan Kelly, without him, holy shit) is the top tier in college hoops this year. Next group is probably Syracuse, KU, and Indiana (not necessairly in any order).
As for Self teams post 2005, which is my cutoff because I don't think the Roy results are significant, I'd say this ranks above 2009 and 2006. I don't think there's an argument for any other year. I'd probably rank them 2010 > 2008 > 2011 > 2012 > 2007 >>>> 2013 > 2009 > 2006. I know I'll get some heat about the number one ranking, but
Fluke tournament losses nonwithstanding, 2010 KU is probably the best college basketball team I've seen in my lifetime. They don't get the pub that they deserve because of the bs second round exit, but god dammit. Jesus Christ you guys were so loaded, I have no idea how UNI pulled that off.
Collins, Henry, Taylor, Morris, Aldrich, backup bigs of the other Morris, young Robinson and Withey. Reed, Morningstar, and Johnson backing up in the backcourt, god damn. It just shows how ridiculous the tournament is
hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha sorry man, they still baffle me to this dayThat 2010 team never happened..FUCK why did you bring them up.
