He needs hyping because of foolish and careless criticisms.

Freshman College Stats:

Shaq - 28 mpg, 13 ppg, 12 rpg, 3 bpg
Tim Duncan - 30 mpg, 10 ppg, 10 rpg, 4 bpg
Alonzo Mourning - 28 mpg, 13 ppg, 7 rpg, 5 bpg
Hakeem Olajuwon - 18 mpg, 8 ppg, 6 rpg, 2.5 bpg
Marcus Camby - 20 mpg, 10 ppg, 6 rpg, 3.6 bpg

Andre Drummond - 28 mpg, 10 ppg, 8 rpg, 3 bpg

Interesting, what other players can you tell me didn't care, because evidently you are in their minds, in the locker room and know exactly what is going on?

College isn't exactly a big mans game. With all the zone defense, and ball dominant guards, you have to be really developed offensively to put up monster numbers.

He doesn't have a developed offensive game, it needs work, that's part of why he struggled. That is a fair criticism, but to just go with the narrative of him not caring or not trying or even "playing like a little girl", whatever that means, is just stupid.

He re-classified into the 2012 College class late, came into practice late, and was in an offense that didn't play to his obvious strength. He had everything going against him.

He will be an impact defender at the very least in the NBA, and if he gets proper development and used right in pick and rolls, he can be an impact offensive player with his shear size, strength and athleticism.

I didn't drop any bomb on him lol, it's just annoying that everyone is jumping on this bandwagon of saying he doesn't care. If he unperformed for multiple years, you have a different story, but he had a lot going against him with this Uconn team for one year.

There was some poor judgement on his part to go to Uconn, seeing as how they aren't the greatest at developing offensive games for big men. If he goes to Kentucky and gets proper coaching, he's the consensus #2 pick.

So who all thinks Tony Wroten would be a good fit for the Hawks?

What happened to Jeff Teague being so good?
He still is lol he did about what I expected for his first year starting, I just wanted to ask who thought he'd be a good fit. It's not like Tony would start from Day 1, unless he got that jumper together with a quickness

I really could careless about stats. The guy is nearly 7 foot tall, and probably the most athletic player on that team. Of course he's going to put up decent stats. He's playing a boys game, in the NBA he'll be playing the mens game. Will he be able to match those guys? He'll be able to match them physically with his size and athleticism, but what about mentally? Will he be able to match their motors? For the record, Drummond isn't half the basketball player or center half those guys on that list are.

It's not me saying he doesn't care, it's guys like Chad Ford being told this by guys that Drummond has been around. It came up in high school and it came up in college. I know you don't want to believe it, but where there is smoke there is fire. If you watched the combine, you would know Drummond himself admitted to not always trying hard at UCONN.

Questionable motor, doesn't always assert himself. Looks like Tarzan plays like Jane.

Hell, if you really watch him you don't even need to hear it from someone, you can see it in his play on the court. He had 13 games where he had 5 or less rebounds. When you are as big, as athletic, and as hyped as he is, too put up those numbers against those small schools is unacceptable.

And "playing like a girl" means he's soft. If you deny that, you probably didn't watch a single game he played in at UCONN.

The guy has tons and tons of upside, but he's the ultimate project. How many times do those types of guys actually develop or live up to their draft stock? He's being drafted on pure upside alone, because right now he has no offensive game and his defensive game still needs work. Doesn't really fight for position under the boards, doesn't really box out. He's a much better offensive rebounder than he is defensive rebounder. For comparisons sake, 55.6% of his rebounds came defensively, 71.3% for Anthony Davis, 75.6% for Thomas Robinson, 66.8% for Jared Sullinger. Though he's got good instincts for shot blocking and is a good help and rotation defender.

He had 13 games where he had 5 or less rebounds, among those teams? Columbia, Wagner, Coppin State, UNC-Asheville, Arkansas, Harvard, Seton Hall. Do I really have to keep going? When you are as big, as athletic, and as hyped as he is, too put up those numbers against those types of teams is unacceptable. I don't care if he joined the team late, or any of that, you know what that is? That's an excuse. A guy hyped as much as him should be dominating those teams, yet he was the one who didn't show up.

And "playing like a girl" means he's soft. If you deny that, you probably didn't watch a single game he played in at UCONN.
Who cares about stats? The reason he's not as highly thought of is because his stats weren't overwhelming like expected. Yes, he isn't half the player those guys are, but guess what, most didn't dominate as a freshman, a common occurrence.

I couldn't give a rats ass what Chad Ford's been told or is saying. When you don't perform as expected, people are always going to believe you weren't trying, even if it's not the case.

Anthony Davis had 6 rebounds against Penn State, Radford, Auburn and Ole Miss. Must not have been trying as hard in those games. He has to work to do with his defensive rebounding, as do most raw players who don't have the technique, but if he puts the time in, it will improve. He's already a great offensive rebounder.

You don't care that there are legitimate reasons why an 18 year old who classified earlier than expected could have struggled? Uconn's coach missed a lot of the season and they were just a mess all-around. Expecting him to dominate is too much to ask for.

There's a difference between being soft, and being passive on offense because you don't trust your ability as of now.

He is raw and a project, use that as your ammunition, but the not trying and not caring is just speculative and baseless.

Depends if he's running the offense and not sitting back on isolations with Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, etc., which would render him useless as a player.

That whole "if Drummond goes to UK he's the #2 pick" isn't true because Drummond wouldn't have started for UK...

As far as his playing style goes what do you think? Because I've heard he's not the best decision maker and he could use a lot of work running an offense

If Drummond was nearly as good as his hype suggests he'd be the #2 pick.

He's got a way to go but he's a very talented player (except the jump shot). If he had a jumper he could make the case for best PG in the class. I wouldn't worry about how he fits in with the team though because the Hawks could look a lot different depending if they move J-Smoove or not.

That's the craziest part, like if we end up trading smoove idk what type of team we'll have then

If Drummond gets taken by the Blazers, I take back everything I've ever said and foresee 2 ruptured ACLs, 3 pectoral muscle tears, 10+ severe ankle sprains and countless knee operations.
