Every year people bitch the MVP shouldn't go to a player whose team didn't get to the playoffs. So of course somebody would be pissed Bautista didn't win it.

His team wouldn't have made it to the playoffs without him. Simple as that.

Who cares if the Jays didn't make the playoffs? It doesn't make him any less "valuable"

I didn't say thats what I believe. My point is everyone sits there and says it, then a year later their opinion is completely changed.

lol

i said the other day he'd win, because the voters are clowns

justin had a great year. if he didnt win the CY unanimously, it would have been a travesty

but for a pitcher to win MVP, he has to have a spectacular season
Justin had a great season, but not worthy of MVP

congrats to him, but i have a sick feeling in my stomach now
Kemp has no chance tomorrow either unfortuantely

i just dont get why everyone is acting liek Verlander had one of the best seasons ever
great year, but Lincecum was great, Felix was great, Greinke was great in years past
Halladay might have had a better season than Justin this year and he and Kershaw wont get a single top 5 vote tomorrow probably. just dumb

put Verlander on the jays in place of Bautista, are they in the playoffs? no

put Bautista on the Tigers, do they get in? yup. even without Justin Verlander pitching

put Bautista on the Sox instead of Ellsbury and they might get in, who knows
put him in place of Curtis and the yanks still get in

it's a dumb argument to say the Jays dont go the playoffs with or without Bautista

But put Verlander off the Tigers and we don't make the playoffs..

idk, the tigers had a 15 game lead
he had a 8.5 rWAR and a 7.0 fWAR

even if you dont like WAR, im sorry but he wasn't worth 15 games

I don't care about WAR, I'm telling you as a person who seen almost every game this season, Verlander not on the team would mean our team would have missed the playoffs.

maybe if you guys narrowly won the division

but the Tigers had a 15 game lead! he was not worth 15 more wins than someone else

2nd place Indians were 2 games under .500
Tigers were 28 games above .500

thats freaking huge
he was not the difference in the tigers making or missing the playoffs

^^ But stats dictate the opposite.

My problem with Verlander winning is this.

Almost every year, there is a pitcher who puts up comparable numbers to Verlander this year. Felix last year (wins are easily explained), Greinke the year before (16 wins on the Royals is just as impressive) and Cliff Lee going 22-3 on the Indians tops it. If a pitcher wins the MVP, give it to someone like Pedro in 99... But Verlander's season is one that we see every year [put Kershaw on the Tigers and he does just as well] and he shouldn't win MVP because he doesn't impact enough games.
