Boy, Ryan Mallett sucks! No way he put up better numbers than Gabby in a worthless preseason game against scrubs!

Oh snap! No way RM15 won preseason rookie of the week for the first week! ESPN calls him the most impressive so far.

Dude has gotten so much love from the same people that doubted him. Miami is fucking kicking themselves right about now.

The Jags 3rd teamers are probably worse then SEC teams Mallet faced on a regular basis..

you know that mallett was going against 3rd stringers and people that won't be on the team more than likely and Gabbert was against 1st stringers and backups just saying. But Ryan Mallett did well though I will give you that.

You are right, guys like Luck don't come around all that often, if they passed up on him, I'd go crazy, especially if Dalton had a bad year. I mean, if Dalton looks good then it might be the better route to trade the pick (If they get that high) and improve another position, like finding Joseph's replacement. But really, things can change from now to then, you just never know. I really don't think the Bengals will be that bad, but they could be, hope not.
Even if Dalton has a solid year. You take Luck 1st and ship Dalton's ass out of town asap.

Mallett played vs the Jags 3rd team defense, with the 3rd team offense
Gabbert played vs the Pats 2nd team defense, with the 2nd team offense

It's even competition. Yeah, Mallett was going against a bad defense. But when your options are WR Buddy Farnham and your #6 RB on the depth chart, and you still do well....

Mallett had Ridley for a good bit.

Gabbert pretty much played against your starting secondary.. only missing 1 player.

Mallett played against Michael Hamlin and Terrell Whitehead as the safeties along with Jalil Johnson and Kevin Rutland as the CBs (undrafted)

The DE's were Ray Odrick and Steven Wesley (Undrafted) and the LB's were Michael Lockley, Scott Lutrus, and Kyle Bosworth (Undrafted).. yeah.. totally comparable to Gabbert. Atleast those #2's will be on the roster in about 2 weeks.

Mallett will be good. I wanted him in the 2nd (if we didn't get a QB at 8). I just agreed he wouldn't be a first round pick. I knew he'd be good, but no team would risk a 1st on him. Meanwhile Brutalis, thought he'd go top 15. lol.

I really think Jake Locker is going to turn into something really good, I really do.
The one thing I love about Locker and Dalton specifically, is while watching them being interviewed and watching them play, they are the two guys that seemed like they genuinely love the game of football, and will work as hard as they can to be the best they can.

Locker did look good, he passed well, I would like to see him let loose and run more to keep the defense on their toes, but if he puts the work in like he's showing he is, I think he'll be very good, too. Best case scenario for Locker, is a player like Aaron Rodgers. Worst case, a David Garrard (when he was a bit younger).

As for Dalton, I still think he'll be a good QB. It was a tough showing for him last week, but once he has confidence in what he knows and what he's doing, he'll be fine. He's a great team leader, and when he throws with confidence, I do not question his arm strength at all. Best case scenario, I think he'll turn in to a Matt Cassel kind of player, which isn't a bad thing at all. He can be a guy who is good enough to lead a team, but isn't elite. Worst case, is a guy like Alex Smith, who still can win some games.

Locker did look very good for his first game, I was impressed. If Dalton is going to be the leader that I think he will be, we should be fine. Carson Palmer was never really a leader, I guess he just didn't care. I'd be fine with a Matt Cassel version under center for Cincinnati, he can put the team in position to win games. I don't really care about being elite, I just want a leader that doesn't make mistakes (Which he will from time to time), he is human and win games, that's all I want. I'm not real sure with Dalton yet, he scared me after the first preseason game, but he's learning.

Me too.
He and Mallet I thought were the best QBs of the draft.
We won't see Mallet though till he is traded or Brady dies though lol.
