I just don't see what you guys have to offer for Rip AND 8th.
Like if you loved Rip a lot, the 4th pick maybe. (a stretch cause I don't think the Cavs would do that at all)
But as for player talent, I'd rather just keep the two.

They have a bit to offer....no big talents, but a few smaller talents.

We wouldn't give the Pistons anything. We'd take on Rip's contract to get the 8th pick, using our trade exception we got when LeBron left.

I'm sure the Cavs would have to give up something.

We might give up a 2nd round pick, maybe #33 overall, or a future second or something but I doubt much. Maybe a Heat first we got.

Why would they give anything up?
4 and 8 for 2 is a fair deal.

I really don't see the Pistons in this deal at all. I just can't comprehend up giving up Rip and 8 for nothing. I'd rather keep Rip's deal than do this.

We have the 33rd pick if I'm correct.

You're right, the Cavs have #32, and Detroit has #33.

I do think this trade would make sense for Detroit regardless though. The best you're going to come out of at the #8 spot is most likely just a rotation player. You get rid of Rip's contract, and when the new CBA comes in, it will most likely come in with an amnesty clause, so the Pistons would be able to get rid of another bad contract in Charlie Villenueva or Ben Gordon.

If the pistons do this...Dumars need to be fired immediately. You can get a guy like Burks at 8 and then trade rip.

Would this be the first time a team has had #1 and #2?

The Cavs were bout to take Rip for nothing earlier weren't they?
Or they were going to give US a pick I think?
Unless I'm forgetting?

Why would we add 8 now?
Like if you guys want Rip for the trade exception, I'd be all for it. But giving 8 too, way to much for my favor.

Well there is no motivation for us to take Rip for the trade exception, unless the Pistons give us something, the #8 pick.

It's similar to the deal we had with the Clippers. Baron Davis had a large contract, bigger then Mo Williams, and the Clipps desperately wanted him gone so they gave us their lotto pick to take him.

A starting SG for your trade exception? I think that's a pretty fair deal alone haha.
Adding the 8th pick is anal rape.

I'm sure the Cavs don't want Rip Hamilton, not sure many teams do for that contract. If the Cavs could buy him out after taking his contract on, I'm sure we'd do it. We're just after the #8 pick. It would be a cost cutting move for the Pistons.
