Which current players do you think are locks for the Hall of Fame? This means that if the voting happened today, you think they'd get in. Not by the time their careers are over.

Derek Jeter: Elite hitting SS for most of his career and won five World Series rings. Model citizen off the field and is an unquestioned leader.

Mariano Rivera: Greatest RP of all time, second all time in saves. Enough said.

Albert Pujols: Quite possibly the greatest hitter of all time. The numbers he's put up are just flat out ridiculous and despite being widely considered the best player in the game, I don't think people truly appreciate what we're seeing with him right now. He's also an elite defensive player at 1B.

Ichiro Suzuki: Has had 200 hits every single season of his career and is elite defensively and on the base-paths. Was also just the 2nd player to win ROY and MVP in the same season in MLB history.

Jim Thome: Has 590 career homers and has never been linked to steroids. Nothing else needs to be said.

I'm sure there's more, but I'm both lazy and blanking on certain players.

Forgot about Vlad and Chipper, those two definitely. Can't think of many pitchers. Doc?

I would say Roy Halladay and possibly Miguel Cabrera.

Are we discounting guys that just retired too?

Miguel wouldnt get in yet.
I think with 1 more good year it would be tough for him not to get in. He has had 7 straight very good seasons. I have seen HOF'ers with less accolades than him get in.

Yeah, we're discounting recently retired guys, so no Griffey, Randy Johnson or those guys

If you think he needs one more year to get in FPS, then obviously he wouldn't make it right now ;)

I don't know how to feel about that. So far, the only players linked to steroids that have been eligible for the Hall have only been good with the steroids. Bonds will be the first player to have been linked to steroids that was a Hall of Famer without them, much like A-Rod, to be eligible for the Hall so we'll have to see how his voting goes to see if A-Rod will get in.

Doc, I think is a lock for the hall. Best pitcher of his generation.

Without the steroids, I believe Manny would have a chance. But that really kills him.

I agree with all the players mentioned here though.

I don't think Doc is a lock yet. I don't think he's been impressive enough in his 12 seasons to be a lock with that many seasons. The voters take longevity and durability into account. He's pitched for 12 years but for the first half of his career he had trouble staying healthy. He definitely needs 2 or 3 seasons like his last 3 to be a lock.

Forgot he was still playing, but he definitely is. Had a glove like Ozzie and he wasn't pitiful with the bat like Ozzie was

He's only really had trouble with injuries in 2004 and 2005, since then he has been healthy. He always is among league leaders in complete games and innings pitched showing he has a very strong arm.

He always puts up a great ERA, strikeout numbers, allows few walks etc. Very consistent too. He is also a two time Cy Young winner and of course has had two no hitters. He has had the stats and accolades. He is definitely the best pitcher of his generation.

Whomever said Cabrera, smart man.

Barring injury, Cabrera will be a lock.

Believe they were said by everyone so far lol. I'm drawing blanks for more pitchers though.

Completely forgot Johan, people forget how great he was because of the injuries the past few years, he was the pitcher of the 2000's, not Doc

For the mid parts he was elite. He has regressed a bit since. Halladay has been great in 03 (skip 04 and 05) and since.

Both can be said to be the best of the decade though.
