Plus 9 is very close to 6 looks wise...
He picked 9 because of his favorite pistol, the M9.He said he was going to change his number a while ago, although he said he wanted #6. I have no idea why he picked #9.
Good one FPS...although truthfully, the 9MM pistol is a pansy-@ss weapon. I have to think that if Gil's repping his favorite "gat"...he's wearing #38 or #45.He picked 9 because of his favorite pistol, the M9.
I'm wondering if he re-thought the whole #6 thing...after LBJ filed to change to the same number. In all seriousness though I thought he was going to wear 13 for his mother that passed away on that date. It looks like no one knows why he chose that number, but considering that its Gilbert we're talking about its probably something weird.
LAS VEGAS -- Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban says the NBA should examine how free agents LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade all ended up with the Miami Heat.
Cuban tells a group of reporters at the NBA's summer league in Las Vegas that he intends to ask the league's Board of Governors to inquire about the situation.
According to a story posted on the Cleveland Plain Dealer's website Sunday, Cuban says the league needs to develop more definitive rules governing the issue of player tampering.
NBA owners are scheduled to meet Monday in Las Vegas.
Earlier Sunday, we pointed out here that the Dallas Mavericks have been interested in power forward Udonis Haslem, who has spent his entire seven-year career with the Miami Heat.
On Sunday night, sources close to the situation confirmed to ESPNDallas.com that the Mavericks have extended a multi-year offer to Haslem that starts at the full $5.8 mid-level exception.
One source added that Haslem – one of Miami's most effective defenders on Dirk Nowitzki during the 2006 NBA Finals – is giving Dallas' pitch strong consideration despite the fact that the Heat are lobbying him hard to stay for less money and play with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
The 6-foot-8 Haslem has averaged 10.0 points and 8.1 rebounds in his career. Haslem, 30, made $7.1 million last season. The newly star-laden Heat hope to keep him but will be limited to offering Haslem just over $4 million a year after signing the mega-free-agent trio and completing the expected signing of sharpshooter Mike Miller.
Although Dallas can clearly outbid Miami, Haslem's strong ties to the area – especially to his close friend Wade – hurt the Mavericks' chances of actually landing him. It's also possible that New Jersey could join the bidding for Haslem as well.
Mavs president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson and coach Rick Carlisle have said the club's top free-agent priority is to sign a power forward or center. The Mavs have secured new deals with Dirk Nowitzki and Brendan Haywood, but depth is lean behind them with only Eduardo Najera and Erick Dampier on the roster.
.45 is the way to go for sure.Good one FPS...although truthfully, the 9MM pistol is a pansy-@ss weapon. I have to think that if Gil's repping his favorite "gat"...he's wearing #38 or #45.
The Mavericks are close to signing former San Antonio Spurs center Ian Mahinmi, NBA sources said Sunday.
If the Mavericks secure Mahinmi, who would at the very most require the bi-annual exception of about $1.9 million, it would likely mean that Erick Dampier won't return for the 10-11 season.

- Dan Gilbert"Could there be a few guys who don't want to come, like Chris Bosh? Probably. We're looking for guys who are tough and want to compete."
And mine if J.J. goes thereI just was on dimemag and they were saying Livvy was talking to chicago. Please let them work out a deal.
They would have my favorite player (rose)...along with another one of my favorite players in the league (livvy).
I keep forgetting about Benjamin Button. Poor Portland. The more Durant does and the more Oden stays off the floor equals the 2nd worst lotto pick in NBA history for them.Really hope he stays healthy this year, he doesn't deserve all these injuries.
