You know what's funny?

Ovechkin is still going to lead the league in points and possibly goals even after missing around 10 games this season. The 2 game suspension means nothing anyways, just the NHL trying to make a point. It wasn't worth 2 games it's just that this is there chance, even if you're the best player in the game which Ovechkin is and it's not close no matter how much PM7 denies it. He's the best player in the NHL on the best team in the NHL.

Taking out Brian Campbell is more crucial than taking out a player like Patrick Kaleta or even Tim Gleason...but 2 games is ok. He's a repeat offender and I'm sure more instances will occur in the future, if not the playoffs or later this season. Like he said, he's only gonna be more aggressive...

And if Ovechkin doesn't lead in points and goals, what will you say? Just asking.

And out of everyone being called a homer in this thread for pointing out a slew foot and
talking about a suspension for a dirty hit...its me...honestly?

Maple, you haven't even responded to the list of dirty events Ovechkin has taken part in and I asked it a month ago and its also on the page before this one. I guess I'll have to ask it again

This will likely result in his second suspension this season. He could have gotten one for that hit on Briere a few years ago and the one on Kaleta in November. He blind-sided Dustin Brown away from the play a few years back. Jamie Heward got stretchered off the ice after Ovie hit him from behind. He slew-footed Rich Peverley in October. He's hit Wideman (no video, but here's an article), Gonchar and Gleason knee-to-knee. He shot a puck at Rob Scuderi after the whistle.

Any one, two or even three of those incidents could have been dismissed as Ovechkin's ability to play dominant physical hockey getting a little out of control or maybe emotion getting the best of him. But add up all those incidents. There are nine of them in just a few years, with the majority happening either this season or last.

There's a clear pattern developing.

And LOL at Bruce Boudreau's comments about it. Saying its not his fault he's too strong. SMFH. I guess he has to support him though.

I said he's a gritty player but I don't condone the stuff he's pulled now or in the past. I like him as a player but even I'm willing to admit that he's dirty, unlike some of the other members here (yes you Maple <_<).

I also didn't say that hit was justified in any way. I don't think he intended to give Savard a concussion but it was a reckless play nonetheless. I don't think the refs could have called anything on it either. Elbowing MAYBE but he didn't use his elbow. If they would have stretched the rules and called elbowing, you wouldn't see me arguing the call.

Ovechkin is a physical player. To call him a dirty player means you want a game full of pussies. This is a tough mans game. If you're a physical player and a competitor, things are going to happen.

And if he doesn't lead the NHL in goals and assists it doesn't do anything. For him to be in the race is amazing considering the amount of games he's played. If he is still leading in points after missing all the points and his team is that great....how can you not give the Hart to him whenever he's having one of his better years considering the games he hasn't played.

And you are being a homer because you're bashing Ovechkin where he gets a 2 game suspension and basically a 3 since he had a game misconduct in the first 10 minutes of the game whenever Matt Cooke gets away with......nothing? Ovechkin is paying the price for Matt Cooke's hit.

You didn't even answer the question which was simple, do you think he's dirty given his history of dirty play...

Is it really being physical when you're using foul play to get there? There is a point where you become overly aggressive man...

Its simple not to give him the Hart, the Caps can survive without him and they showed that in that 3-0 rally against the Blackhawks. Now answer this, could the Sabres survive without Ryan Miller?

I'm bashing Ovechkin because of those 10 incidents he's been involved with and like 3, now 4, of them this year...you already know I don't like the guy and believe he's dirty...so why would I be for him in any way, form, or fashion especially after recent events?

It was a collision and there probably wasn't a way around that, but he didn't have to run him over especially at the head like that.

A homer that already said I wouldn't mind if he got a suspension...to be honest, I didn't care if he got a suspension or not. Homer is such an overused phrase these days and quite frankly you can call me what you want, it doesn't matter to me because I understand you have reasons to be mad.

I've also admitted his play was dirty...so what are you trying to say? So in all I've said that he could have got a suspension and I wouldn't mind and that his play is dirty...thats basically what you've been saying the whole time is it not? If he was suspended you wouldn't see me lobbying for him to be freed or some shit like that. I did say I don't see why he should be suspended if he didn't even get a penalty on the play...and even you have to agree with me on that one at least the grounds of it. Why would anyone get suspended if they didn't even get a penalty on the play?

Calm the fuck down, you have more important things to worry about than the things I say about this whole situation...like the Bruins making the playoffs...

If it was a player like...lets say another player from the 2004 NHL Entry Draft...Andrew Ladd...that did all 10 of those things and not Ovechkin...you would be saying he's just a dirty player and you know it...you're ignoring the fact that 4 of those incidents occured this season man...you don't even see Chris Neil or even Steve Downie doing that many things like that...

I hate Alexander Ovechkin and I do not think he deserved the last Hart Memorial Trophy or the 2009-2010 one and I am admitting all three of those things for I don't know how many times. I do not believe he is the game's best player and I think he is great, but dirty.

Do you condone the things he's done including the Campbell shove leading to a broken clavicle?

No, we really don't disagree about Cooke besides the fact you think he should have definitely been suspended. I'm telling you all I thought it was dirty and uncalled for, reckless even, but I still love him as a player. He's gritty and gets in a players head, no reference intended. He has his cheap moments and I will say he's dirty at times. I don't condone that at all, which I've stated.

I'm talking about Ovechkin being a dirty player more than Cooke because 1. I hate Ovechkin, 2. no one ever lists the dirty moments he's had in his relatively short career, 3. I think he's dirty as fuck.
