I'm happy Roy is on the Phillies to be honest but I think the entire trade was unnecessary...M's won

Free agent left-hander Mike Gonzalez has reached preliminary agreement with the Baltimore Orioles on a guaranteed two-year, $12 million contract, a baseball source said. The deal is subject to Gonzalez passing a physical exam, which is expected to take place by the end of the week.

According to The Associated Press, Gonzalez would get $6 million each of the next two seasons and could earn an additional $2 million in performance bonuses.

The Orioles also agreed to a contract with corner infielder Garrett Atkins, who will get a one-year deal that pays him $4 million next season and includes an option for 2011, according to multiple reports.

besides the fact we got two top prospects, I have to agree, the M's gave away basically nothing for an all-star

They should would have gotten better offers from other teams imo. If he wanted a CC Sabathia money, why didn't they just keep him for another season and let him go in FA? The Phillies would have the best rotation in MLB if they didn't trade him.

The Phillies rotation is still pretty beastly though. Roy is better than Cliff but they're both Cy Young arms. I don't see Halladay making that much of a difference to be honest. I think Cliff would have had the same impact

I can't wait to see how dominate Roy will be in the NL. I won't be surprised if he gets a no-hitter

Ok so the Giants are about to sign some prospect Duanel Jones from the DR. I'm kinda excited about this because they have good scouting down there...look at Pablo ;)

Yanks sign Nick Johnson to 2 years - 1st year at $5.5MM with Plate Appearances Incentive, and 2nd year is a $5.5MM Mutual Option -- http://twitter.com/Buster_ESPN/status/6805206989

Cubbies trade Bradley to Mariners for Carlos Silva and $6MM in cash over 2 years -- http://twitter.com/SI_JonHeyman/status/6804794796

Great sign by the Yankees, grabbing a solid backup and DH. Im kinda 50-50 on the Silva for Bradley. I think it was probably a better move for the Cubs. They get rid of Bradley, maybe will pursue an OF in the FA Market, and they also get some cash. Now the M's have depth in their OF but Olney says it's doubtful they big high on a free agent OF now, reducing the market for OFers.

Please tell me how this is a good move for the Cubs? Carlos Silva is <Censored>ing garbage. I don't care what anybody says, we should have just kept Bradley. He wasn't even all that bad last year. Sure he wasn't the stud he was for Texas, but he wasn't bad. He just wasn't what he was expected to be. You have Bradley sit down with management, tell him how things are gonna be, have him issue an apology or something and go in Spring Training with Soriano-Fukudome-Bradley as the OF. I know the whole off-season plan was to trade him, but that wasn't a good idea, since nobody was gonna offer anything good for him. They should have just tried to work things out and keep him, cuz he's a much better player than anybody there gonna find for the OF now. Marlon Bryd? Are you for real? Come on, the guy is nothing special. The best thing right now that could happen would be Carlos Silva getting flipped somewhere, possibly New York, for Luis Castillo. Then we get a leadoff hitter and a 2B in one deal. I don't really care who they get to play CF, whoever it is isn't gonna improve the team that much.

This dude is pissed about it lol

Marlon Byrd is an under the radar player. Look at his stats. I wish the Giants would get him...he could help out many OFs

If Byrd can produce the .380 OBP he did in 2008 then I'd say ok, but last season he had an awful .329 OBP.

I do agree with you though, I don't like the Silva for Bradley trade at all

I mean could we have at least gotten some low level prospects? Carlos Silva has never been good, I don't know why they want him to take innings away from Randy Wells, Sean Marshall, Tom Gorzelanny, Jeff Samardzija, etc.

Maybe it was the attitude of Milt. IDK they probably just wanted dude out of the clubhouse. That could explain why they just gave him out

That's obviously it, but they should have just sat him down and talked it out rather than making in well known that the #1 off-season goal was to kick him out of town. When you do that it makes it impossible to bring him back and you end up having to trade him for garbage (AKA Carlos Silva).

I think it'd take a miracle for any team to be able to sit down and talk the attitude out of Milton Bradley...
