SportsTalk radio has been talking about the trade deadline for the last 30 minutes... Chris Broussard was on as a guest, as was S.A.S.... anyway, they went through each team's trade possibilities, and when they came to the Cavaliers, they said:

The Cavaliers are currently in serious talks with Washington, believed to be about Caron Butler (but not verified...as to who the talks were centered on), they also said that The Cavaliers have had some "good" discussions with Phoenix, but that the talks did NOT include a possible trade for Amare. The Cavs also had a "back and forth" with the Clippers.

Friend of mine told me the Butler thing was on NBA Coast to Coast as well, so I guess it seems like a possibility for the Cavs.

John Salmons | Kings
Sacramento forward John Salmons, who the Thunder reportedly recently sought to acquire in a trade for Smith, continues to hear his name in trade rumors. According to a report in the Sacramento Bee, the Thunder recently offered Smith for Salmons. The Bee reports Salmons has also attracted interest from San Antonio.

"It just one of those things where you can't really let it affect you and what you do on the court," said Salmons Sunday. "You've just got to stay focused and whatever happens is going to happen."

When asked about the possibility of playing for the Thunder, Salmons said, "That's not official yet. Rumors are rumors. If it happens then I'll have a thought on it. But it hasn't gone down yet so I'm still a Sacramento King." -- The Oklahoman

Financial Situation Hampering Flexibility
As the Kings begin a Texas two-step tonight against Dallas and Wednesday against Houston, sources within the league and close to the Kings continue to indicate they will try to make at least one trade before the deadline. Although a move for Amare Stoudemire isn't likely, two league sources said the Kings have inquired numerous times about the Phoenix forward and soon-to-be four-time All-Star this week.

Maloof's Won't Sell Or Relocate
Responding to speculation about the Kings' future in Sacramento, Kings co-owner Joe Maloof on Monday reiterated the family's commitment to the community. However, he expressed concern about projected financial losses and an urgency regarding plans for a new arena.

One league executive identified representatives from Anaheim and San Jose as particularly aggressive suitors.

On Monday, Joe Maloof, clearly agitated by the question, said the family has no intention of selling majority interest or relocating.

"We've been approached constantly since we bought the team, and we're still here," he said. "We've never wavered. We've always kept our word. We didn't try one (failed arena deal) and split.

"Our goal and objective is to get something done here. We know where we're at -- we're at rock bottom -- and we've got to turn everything around. And we will. Let's see what Cal Expo comes up with. But we'll look at anything." -- Sacramento Bee

There were indications Sunday that a trade involving swingman John Salmons is becoming increasingly likely, with Portland and Oklahoma City believed to be the leaders in a group of as many as five interested teams. The Trail Blazers' offer would involve forward Channing Frye's expiring contract ($3.2 million), and the Thunder's offer would involve forward Joe Smith's expiring deal ($4.8 million).
