Yeah, but I'm sure the CAP relief was a huge part to the trade.

Either way, Dumars is the man =]

He wants the title, if he doesn't he gets the CAP relief. It's a win-win. If you don't think this trade makes us better, IDK what to tell you.
It's a risk. You can't say it pays off before it does. That's like buying 1,000,000 lottery tickets because it gives you a better chance.

If you ask me, I can't see AI being a good fit in Detroit. Detroit's system is built around not having a "guy". They're team basketball. That's not the game that AI plays. If AI doesn't get into that mindset, the Pistons will fall back to the pack of Orlando, Cleveland, Philadelphia, etc.

But let's say AI does buy in. This trade still by no means elevates them above the Celtics.

This trade is a calculated risk to say the least. They get the cap room no matter what, but at the same time, nobody knows how AI will fit in in Detroit. And you can't say that you do, because you don't...

IMO, this will help Denver more than Detroit. It gives Denver a legit, pass-first point. It also allows JR Smith to become a starter. With Chauncey running the point and having Smith and Anthony running the wings, the Nuggets will look a lot better.

And no Dumars didn't make this trade just for CAP relief, and he didn't just say "Why Not."

Dumars is one of the best GM's in the league, he doesn't make trades "just because."

He wants the title, if he doesn't he gets the CAP relief. It's a win-win. If you don't think this trade makes us better, IDK what to tell you.
i meant he had to shake things up and he did
"why not" is exactly that. you were gonna compete with Billups and you still are with AI. NOthing really changed in that sense.
this is a win-win for the pistons. they still get to compete, got the shake-up, and even if it doesnt work out(which i dont believe it will), you get a buttload of cap-relief to go get some FA's. Not just LeBron, Wade, Bosh, but other guys like Boozer/Odom/DLee etc.

i said i like this trade a lot in terms of contracts and letting Stuckey get to play more, but on the court this season i dont think it'll put you guys over the top

Once again we agree to disagree.

Most people out there things Detroit will be much better with AI, I'm one of them.

Billups wasn't a great defensive player when he got to Detroit. Neither was Hamilton.

You seen what Rondo did to him last year...

And Billups is slow, declining, and isn't an X-Factor anymore.

I'm pro-A.I. trade Rip...

...but I will point out that Iverson is declining...isn't "The Answer" anymore.

Well yea, but he is still superstar status and a lot better than Billups.

It's not like we need him long term.

Yes, he is better than Billups. I only question this trade b/c his style of play doesn't fit Detroit's style of play at all. It will be interesting.

But in a move that will get Stuckey in the starting line-up faster & Maxiell on the court more, I am loving it. Stuckey was phenomenal in the playoffs last season & there's no doubt he is a big part of the Pistons' future.

...for now it's also just like I said before, A.I. back in the East...playing with Rip & Sheed...pretty f*cking exciting.
