The Yankees have signed third baseman Eric Chavez to a minor-league contract, according to a source.
Chavez, 33, has spent all 13 seasons of his big league career with Oakland. He's been plagued by injuries in recent years, limited to a total of 64 games played in 2008-2010.
New York also agreed to a minor league deal with utility infielder Ronnie Belliard.
