Good thing it doesn't matter.  When they want to sleep on a couch in their office while working 100 hours in the week like Mike Pettine will, then it will matter.

My point is that the players aren't the guys who are hired and fired for determining the starters that give the team the best chance to win.

Choice seems pretty obvious to me

me too, Hoyer.

Yeah but you have friends who are better drummers than Neil Peart, so why should we respect that opinion?

I'd rather play Manziel in Week 2 than Hoyer tbh.

Not the point. Hoyer is very average. While Manziel is obviously unproven, there is no reason to sit him. Not as if we're trying to, or he's even capable of being molded into a pocket passer with amazing footwork. He's a playmaker who is going to use his legs. Again, no reason to sit him to learn from QBs who play nothing like him.

Play Manziel again, although I've seen some hype from people about the first preseason game.

Elcheato, how do you know Hoyer is average? Even he only has 4 career starts, and played damn well in them.

Like I said with Foles, even though he doesn't have the prototypical physical traits, who cares? He can still be good.

Hoyer is slightly above average. I'd say he's a tad worse than Foles, but I also don't think Foles is anything too special

I'm not arguing he's going to be an all-star. I'm just saying give the guy a chance. When he's had opportunities to shine, he has.

As I think about this more, I'm surprised that the players themselves wouldn't prefer Hoyer more than the fans, media and coaching staff do.  I can't imagine snorting coke and being late to meetings is endearing to some eight year veteran lineman.

Sure, I'll give you that one. We still don't know if it was a one time thing or not though. Who knows except Johhny.

I think the veterans see though how guys like RG3, Kap, Wilson etc. have added life into their respective teams as young guys and may want a little excitement. Who knows.
