As Cleveland Cavaliers forward Anderson Varejao continues to put up big numbers, his rise has left the organization in a difficult position. The Cavaliers are battling a question: Should we trade him or keep him?

“If he’s available, it goes without saying a lot of teams will want in,” one executive said. “He would be the top target.”

If the Cavaliers decide to trade Varejao, they want young, elite-level talent with high upside in return. Still, given the way the 30-year-old has blossomed over the past two seasons, Cleveland could very well be smart to keep him and his reasonable contract in the fold.

Across the NBA, players and coaches have had high praise for Varejao. Just last week, LeBron James said he’s been impressed with Varejao’sdevelopment.

“I think he’s probably more offensive-minded now,” Memphis Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins said. “They play through him a lot more, so he has a lot more opportunities.

Varejao is averaging 15.1 points, 15.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists and is considered an All-Star candidate this season.

They'll ask for too much and a deal will never be made.

He's playing like the best center in the league right now, so I would expect they're wanting a lot.

He would be good in Boston, but I don't think Sully+Fab+Bradley could get the deal (nor am I sure I would want that)

There's also a lot of other factors involved, obviously. Like the fact that it's not a matter of it but a matter of when he gets hurt, for instance.

He's a good player, and I'm sure Cleveland is fielding plenty of calls from teams that are interested, but no team is going to give up a young guy with high upside for a 30 year old injury prone big man. Staying healthy is a skill that some players just don't have.

He doesn't have any reoccurring injury problem in his knees, back, etc.. They've mainly been freak accident's on the court that are unavoidable.

That organization is obsessed with Perk, so I'm starting to doubt it.

it would take pj3, lamb, collison, and another filler. cleveland would still want picks. in the end that is not good for okc.

OKC isn't giving up their main pieces of the Harden deal (Lamb) for Varejao.

It'd have to be Collison/Sefolosha, Lamb, Jones, and Maynor for Varejao. OKC would laugh.

Statistically, Varejao is easily the best center in the league right now. The Cavs would laugh at any offer that didn't include the Raptors pick and at least one young prospect.
