If they wanted the player, they would have found a way. It's not like they're strapped for money/spending room. They were barely spending the league minimum. Brady restructred. They let Wilfork go. Pick up the option and restructure.
 
Revis was going back to New York as a free agent. Always. The only way to keep him in New England was to "force" (for the lack of a better term) him to stay. They had that opportunity and didn't take it.
