Via ESPN Insider. The New York Islanders will have to put a player on injured reserve to clear space for an AHL call-up while forward Matt Martin is suspended (two games). According to Arthur Staple of Newsday, goaltender Rick DiPietro is the likeliest candidate.
After putting in a great performance against the Anaheim Ducks last Thursday, DiPietro experienced swelling in his surgically-repaired right knee. He hasn't skated since Saturday. DiPietro would have to miss the next two games - at least - if he's placed on the IR.
Biggest bust of all time?
