The New York Islanders will have to put a player on injured reserve to clear space for an AHL call-up while forward Matt Martin is suspended (two games). According to Arthur Staple of Newsday, goaltender Rick DiPietro is the likeliest candidate.

After putting in a great performance against the Anaheim Ducks last Thursday, DiPietro experienced swelling in his surgically-repaired right knee. He hasn't skated since Saturday. DiPietro would have to miss the next two games - at least - if he's placed on the IR.

You can't really call the dude a bust, just injury prone. He's only had one real losing season, besides his rookie year and he didn't even play 25 games that year. He's on the Islanders who can't even put a good team together if they tried. Not much in front of him there and he's there for quite a while so you can see whats gonna be the storyline of his career once its all said and done.

He's on a shitty team, but definitely not a bust, injury prone

Yeah, imo, to be a bust, you gotta suck lol

As Shelly said, Rick doesn't really suck, just gets injured all the time.

Feel bad for the dude. Islanders made a huge mistake giving him that lucrative deal.

Ok, let me re-phrase that then. Biggest Waste of a 1st round pick ever?

Still wouldn't say that. Dude's been an All Star and imagine how he'd be if 1. he was healthy and 2. if he had decent players in front of him
