The Houston Rockets plan on pursuing Dwight Howard, but they will simultaneously go after Chris Paul as well.

"They are targets No. 1 and 1A," said a source.

Both Howard and Paul are free agents, but the former has expressed more interest in signing with the Rockets.

The Rockets need to complete a few moves to offer a max contract, something they feel is likely. Houston won't have enough cap space to offer a max contract to both players.

Paul is close to James Harden from their time together on USA Basketball.

The league is just all about forming these super teams now, sucks in my opinion.

always has been, now it's just more out there for money reasons.

if they somehow grab both of these guys oh my. thats if they get to keep certain pieces. other teams know they want this so it won't be easy to just dump players.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. How many teams are going to be willing to help em form the next greatest thing in the NBA? I guess the Lin signing screwed the Rockets over here.

Keep in mind Chris Pauls knees probably won't make it through this contract.

I would love to not lose Parsons or Asik, but if one of these deals goes down, I really can't see it.

If the Rockets can get CP3 and Dwight, they will rival MIA

They'd be better, but this is exactly why it won't happen.

It's not going to happen regardless.

The rest of the roster would definitely be thin as fuck.

If I'm being honest, I can see this happening - or at least being attempted. It has kind of a Miami 2010 vibe to it, except that they can't obviously sign outright with Houston, but I feel like they would do this. They've seen how Miami made three straight Finals appearances.
In my eyes it's a matter of either of LAL/LAC letting it happen and accepting a trade.

I don't like him because he's an ever bigger bitch than Dwight, but I think CP3 would be a better sign. Asik is 26 or 27 and isn't a headache--and he stays healthy. He's not better than Dwight overall but in many ways he may be the lack of a distraction in the best way.

I don't want a big 3. Everything I hate about Miami on my own team? The last thing this league needs is another team willing to purchase championships.

Then again, at least Houston has loyal fans. The fair weather fuckers in Miami are pathetic.

they have to lock up Paul first, because Lakers need that 3/stretch 4 more than the Clipps by alot (aka getting a S&T for Dwight is easier than one for Paul)

Yeah. A offer around Parsons and Asik is probably more enticing for the Lakers than for the Clips.

not even. theyre urfa. they can make trades with other teams to clear the space and sign them free of sign-and-trades. but like i said, other teams know this and wont want to help them build a better "super-team"

so if Dwight goes to the Lakers and say "Im not re-signing with you guys, so you can get Parsons/TRob/Asik or nothing" you don't think they would take the guys and run?
