I don't see how baseball gets by, without selling a lot of tickets, and throwing ridiculous amounts of money at players.
It looks like the Yanks will most likely pick him up.A 7 year contract for Crawford isn't as bad as a 7 year contract for Lee... whose older and in my opinion not that dominant through 30+ games but typically is more dominant because of his post-season abilities. Which is why I feel WHOEVER gets Lee is overpaying significantly and will regret the later years of his contract.
Merchandise, Selling advertisements, and $9 beers.I don't see how baseball gets by, without selling a lot of tickets, and throwing ridiculous amounts of money at players.
Based on what?It looks like the Yanks will most likely pick him up.
162 games in a year. But doesn't the NFL and NBA do that to? And they are struggling from the sounds of things.
Thank you. I am not the only one who thinks he will be overpaid and somewhat overrated.A 7 year contract for Crawford isn't as bad as a 7 year contract for Lee... whose older and in my opinion not that dominant through 30+ games but typically is more dominant because of his post-season abilities. Which is why I feel WHOEVER gets Lee is overpaying significantly and will regret the later years of his contract.
Well the yanks offered him a 7 year contract..... The initial offer was 6 years 140 mil. It surely has to be more now.Based on what?
All that matters is which offer is better. The Yanks or the Rangers. Supposedly the Rangers have made an offer and we don't know the terms. Is it better than the Yankees offer? Is it close and maybe he decided to stay in Texas if it only means a few less $$? We don't know.
I honestly don't care who gets him, whoever signs the guy is overpaying anyhow. I kind of actually hope its the Yankees so I can see him be a 14-12 pitcher with a 3.80 ERA when he's 37 years old, making $24M and I hear the Yankees fans around me <Censored>.
Compared to the rest of society yes. Compared to the rest of the league, many are underpaid. You think they earn a lot though, but in a reality a lot goes towards taxes and their agent.Every single professional athlete is overpaid.
I don't quite understand what you're arguing with me about....Well the yanks offered him a 7 year contract..... The initial offer was 6 years 140 mil. It surely has to be more now.
I'm just saying that theres a really good chance that the Yankees will push for Lee even more now (and the are) because the Sox signed Crawford and end up overpaying him much more than we expected and there is something that puts the Yankees ahead. The fact that Sabathia is good friends with Lee will also influence Lee's decision.I don't quite understand what you're arguing with me about....
I've known for hours that they upped their 6 year offer to a 7 year offer.
Rangers tonight gave Lee multiple offers, as did the Yankees. Yankees gave him other options, such as 6 or 5 years but with more money each year. Rangers apparently have done the same. IS there anything that puts the Yankees ahead? No... because for all we know the Rangers matched the Yankees' 7 year offer with nice perks for his family along with even better incentives for awards, etc.
Nobody is ahead... not yet at least. We'll probably know a lot more in the morning.
