Call them the Big Three Plus One. Rasheed Wallace will join the Celtics next season, multiple media outlets in Boston reported on Sunday.
The team sent managing partner Wyc Grousbeck, team president Danny Ainge, coach Doc Rivers and All-Stars Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen to woo the Pistons forward last week, the the Boston Globe reported.
"Rasheed took the first meeting very well and was impressed once it became clear we were talking about the same financial situation," Wallace's agent, Bill Strickland, said, according to the Boston Herald. "He obviously likes the team and the meeting was very effective."
According to the Globe, Wallace will receive a two-year deal for the mid-level exception, believed to be for around $5.6 million per season when the league sets the salary cap next week. The number will be released July 8, the earliest date that teams can officially sign free agents or consummate trades.
Wallace averaged 12 points and 7.4 rebounds per game last season for a Pistons team that was swept by the Cavaliers in the first round of the playoffs. For his 15-year career, Wallace has averaged 15 points and 6.9 rebounds per contest.
