Should Pete Rose be allowed into the HOF?
Why or why not?
Why or why not?
A lot of guys already in the Hall that broke rules. Guys that used to scuff up the ball, guys that used speed, 'greenies', and pitched games high on LSD. Hell, there's guys in the HOF who ran baseball during the segregationist era. Tris Speaker was once implicated in game-fixing. Like I said, there's plenty of room in the HOF for infamy but when it comes to Rose, Bonds, and now Clemens, it's a personal issue MLB has with each player.brett05 said:No. He broke THE rule. He singlehandedly could have destroyed the game. MLB brought to you by Vince McMahon.
Let's bring this in back to Rose.Pharoah said:A lot of guys already in the Hall that broke rules. Guys that used to scuff up the ball, guys that used speed, 'greenies', and pitched games high on LSD. I honestly believe Pete would've been in by now if he didn't lie about it for as long.
Being banned from baseball has nothing to do with the Hall. I've mentioned how one affects the other but just b/c Pete and Joe were banned from baseball doesn't mean they can't be put into the HOF.brett05 said:Let's bring this in back to Rose.
Rose broke THE rule in baseball. This rule is far and away #1. He bet on games and jeopardized the legitimacy of the sport and success of his team(s). His bad is for a lifetime. Shoeless Joe goes in way, way before Rose because he served his lifetime ban.
On top of that Rose continually lies and continually gambles on the game. There is no case to be made for him to go in while alive.
I know, but the HOF has deemed it so.Pharoah said:Being banned from baseball has nothing to do with the Hall. I've mentioned how one affects the other but just b/c Pete and Joe were banned from baseball doesn't mean they can't be put into the HOF.
Bunch of socialistsbrett05 said:I know, but the HOF has deemed it so.
Honestly I think Pete should be out of the Hall for his gambling. Gambling is the one thing that could destroy the game. Forget what MLB has done, what Pete has done and then lied about continually is forgivable but is not to be rewarded.Pharoah said:Bunch of socialists
I look at the Hall as a museum of the game. The most significant players and events are rightfully enshrined. You cannot tell me thr story of Pete Rose shouldnt be preserved in there. His gambling had nothing to do with the amazing numbers he put up as a.player. Put a giant asterisk over his head if you wish but put him in.brett05 said:Honestly I think Pete should be out of the Hall for his gambling. Gambling is the one thing that could destroy the game. If you see it as a museum than you should be good with him not getting a bust. Plenty of Rose stuff there already to tell the story.Pharoah said:I look at the Hall as a museum of the game. What if he gambled as a player as it appears there is evidence for?RickD said:Pete Rose is the Donald Trump of MLB! He is obnoxious, annoying, conceited, arragont and an all around jerk. He gambled on the game. He lied.
He also deserves the Hall!
Pete Rose is the all time hit king. He deserves to go into the Hall as a player. Gambling did not impact his hit record! HE SHOULD NEVER MANAGE A GAME AGAIN. He should never be allowed to work in any capacity for a MLB team.
As a player, put him in the Hall. As a person, keep him away from the game!
An MLB ban, yes. What does that have to do with the HOF?semperty said:He willingly accepted a lifetime ban. There's no justification for him getting in during his lifetime.
Well the Hall of Fame pretty well represents MLB's post-career tribute. It doesn't very well make sense that the Hall of Fame would go against baseball on this one.Pharoah said:An MLB ban, yes. What does that have to do with the HOF?
Because the HOF doesn't need MLB's permission to do shit. The HOF committee is in charge of balloting and its writers who cast votes.semperty said:Well the Hall of Fame pretty well represents MLB's post-career tribute.
