Daniel Bryan’s Retirement Not a “Work”
We have received several comments and emails regarding Daniel Bryan’s retirement being a “work,” which is not the case. We can confirm that Daniel Bryan is indeed retiring from in-ring competition. Former WWE announcer Jonathan Coachman commented on speculation regarding it being a work. He wrote the following on Twitter:

Let me be VERY clear. This is not a work. Not a storyline. Real life. And it stinks for one of the really good guys. https://t.co/KknKb5yLQb
— Jonathan Coachman (@TheCoachESPN) February 8, 2016
Additionally, Bryan Alvarez mentioned on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Live that his retirement is legitimate and had to do with a new medical test that was conducted. We should find out more details on tonight’s episode of RAW.
Alvarez also speculated that Bryan’s segment on RAW will most likely close tonight’s show and wouldn’t be surprised if they announced him for some sort of role at WrestleMania.

I can't see them closing the show with the segment. Letting it linger would be dumb considering the crowd is just gonna chant his name all fuckin' night.

WWE is going to have a lot of eyes on the product tonight. They desperately need to put on a good show.

I think you overestimate just how much Daniel Bryan matters

I'm sorry I don't find the rootable underdog an appealing character like the masses do

I don't even like Bryan because he's an "underdog". Truth be told, I hated his first face run, he had no character and was incredibly bland. He won me over when he was a heel. His singles run was entertaining, and his stuff with Kane was great too.

Not starting with Bryan was an awful decision.
