Former WWE Writer Says Daniel Bryan’s Character Was Going To Reveal He’s Gay
Published On January 10, 2015 by Brad Davis (WWE News)

Former WWE creative team member Brian Maxwell Mann revealed on Twitter that earlier today that Daniel Bryan’s character was going to come out as gay during his 2010 storyline with the Bella Twins.
According to Mann, WWE and the USA Network wanted to portray a positive gay character and the whole Bella Twins “love triangle” angle was going to culminate with Bryan telling them he was gay. No word on why the angle was scrapped, but after Bryan turned down their advances for months, WWE eventually settled on Bryan dating Gail Kim instead.

FUN FACT: In 2010, USA wanted WWE to introduce a positive gay character. The Bryan/Bellas triangle was supposed to lead to DB coming out.

No they don't it's way too risky
Yeah. That's why they went with the multiple concussion/injury/wellness police violator Randy Orton in the first place...

Bryan's career could literally end in one match and no one would be surprised. He's wrestling on borrowed time. I don't think WWE should take the risk with him right now.

then why clear him? if hes cleared, put him back into the main event.

if they would have made bryan gay, the lbgt would have flipped out. good thing they didnt.

Bryan will be fine. He will just have to switch up his fast paced/high impact style of wrestling to a slower pace more of a brawler kind of style. A lil close to something similar to Austin.

How is MVP doing in TNA? I liked him in the WWE

Also, how often does Bobby Lashley appear, given he does MMA?

They can put him into the main event scene. But you can't give him the belt until he proves he can stay healthy. Otherwise you run into last year all over again.

Bryan is by far the most over guy in the company. He always gets loud pops and everyone chants "yes", even in front of notoriously poor crowds. Capitalizing on his popularity is worth the risk of injury. If they were that worried they would have held him out past the rumble, because otherwise it doesn't make sense for him to compete in it unless he's winning.

they should have kept his return a secret and had him just come back at the rumble. poor ratings wouldn't allow that though.

The surprise element is always entertaining, but it doesn't make business sense to not advertise the return of top stars. People will tune in for just him.
