The market is absurd right now. That doesn't mean the player is worth that money. It's just what you have to pay to get them.
i thought that was understood lol

obviously horford isn't worth a max, but neither is mike conley. doesn't mean they don't deserve to get maxed in this market

Horford signing is simply a waste of money

Helps them be bit better but doesnt solve anything

The market is slightly overinflated now because teams still have a number of contracts on their books from the old salary cap giving them more room to sign these contracts. But a like of Horford's caliber would always warrant a max contract regardless of what the cap was set at

The cap jumped nearly 50%. Using salary total isn't a good way to judge things. Yea that's an awful contract, but bad contract have always existed. Would that really look as bad if it were 4 years 36 Million two years ago?

Top 5 center hahahah. He's worth a max no matter how much money that is because the max is a percentage of the cap

I don't think Horford is the top 5 center. That Cleveland series really brought his deficiencies to the forefront. He just isn't a big enough presence inside, and that would make me nervous.

Kat, Boogie, Gobert, Jordan, Gasol are definites.

You also have Drummond, Whiteside, Embiid, Lopez, Howard, and even guys like Valanciunas, Vucecic, and Myles Turner who I think you could put up an argument for.

Yea sure there's an argument for Gobert. And AD obviously if you consider him a center. Embiid needs to play more. Horford is better than Deandre and Lopez

bahahahahah

you did not just call a guy with less than 35 games accrued better than horford. watch the games you fucking scrub, jesus. that's such an overreaction of an evaluation if I've seen one

Towns, Boogie, and Marc are clearly better. They're the top 3 centers in the game. Deandre and Gobert can definitely be argued over Horford, but Al's offense is far better than those two as well. I'd say they are on the same 2nd tier of centers behind the top 3. Horford is currently better than Jokic but only because Jokic is younger. Nikola should surpass him easily in two years, if not by next year, but for now Al's the better player.

I'd put Horford 6th probably. He's not a great rebounder, but at the same time Stevens' system doesn't even really focus on rebounding so his numbers look worse than his ability. But I guarantee you all of you will overlook his passing ability, so I'll narrate that to you -- he was 12th this year in AST/TO ratio. Not 12th among bigmen, but 12th across the league (2.93). He's a good shooter overall (and a very good one for a big man) and an elite passer. He doesn't need to have gaudy stats to provide impact. There's a reason Isaiah Thomas scored 7ppg more this year and was significantly more efficient at it too, and that's because of Horford.

He's clearly worth the max in today's NBA. Obviously he's not worth max dollars but 90% of the league is overpaid. Comparative to what others make, he's quite deserving
