This story broke in the Hornets Report Lagniappe Lounge way back at like 11:30 this morning. The names aren't necessarily the frontrunners, just the names that Tom Bensons wife likes the most. Explains why they sound so WNBA.

Grow some balls Benson, who cares what names your wife likes...

A poster on the Hornets board made a great find (why are there 11 guests in this thread?):

The 247 report only looked at the Secretary of State site and saw tradename registrations for the Spirit and Angels and said there was no such thing for the Brass... However, if you look for "New Orleans Brass" you'll find the old record for the hockey team, but notice the trademark/tradename was renewed on April 13th 2012. The LLC for the old team was cancelled in 2007, so it seems rather odd for the trademark to get renewed this year.
April 13,2012 is the day the news that Benson bought the team came out.

Brass is dumb, but it is better than Spirit and Angels.

Jazz is by far my favorite. It's like:

Jazz

Brass

Krewe
Voodoo

Don't see Utah giving it up. What else could they call themselves? I mean, it's Utah lol.

They aren't going too, but wtf does Jazz have to do with Utah? I still don't get why they didn't rebrand, Jazz in Utah makes as much sense as Hornets in New Orleans.

There should be a triple swap.

New Orleans Jazz
Charlotte Hornets
Utah Bobcats

All the names fit the region, makes too much sense.
