They still have Jordan Cameron, signed Ben Tate, and will probably draft a WR at some point. I'm not saying it's a great cast of weapons but I don't think they would wait to play Manziel because Gordon was suspended, especially given how bad the fans want to see him. They'll play whoever wins the job in camp

It would be too late to help Josh Gordon, Will Hill or anyone else in danger of a lengthy suspension for violations of current rules. But when and if the NFL's new drug policy is finalized and announced, it will include changes specific to marijuana and other drugs of abuse.
 
A source told ESPN.com on Tuesday that the renegotiation of the drug policy, which has been going on since 2011 and includes testing for human growth hormone, also will significantly increase the threshold for a positive marijuana test and reduce the punishments for violations involving that drug.

the NFL needs to make a stance here and not punish these guys too harshly. The NFL is better with Josh Gordon in it. Don't think of it as giving Josh Gordon a break. Think of it as giving us fans a break.

This is absolutely ridiculous.


You can't favor one player over another in terms of punishment. If Josh Gordon and Sam Hurd both get caught for weed, Gordon shouldn't get less suspension time than Hurd, just because he is "better".

You set a punishment for a certain action. Period. If you want to decrease it- that's fine. But you can't selectively punish someone due to their marketability

I think if they change the rule though, anyone currently suspended should also be able to adhere to the new rule and have their suspension revised. It's not fair if the NFL admits they are wrong about this rule after these players get screwed by it. It shouldn't have been this harsh to begin with, so give the players who got caught pre rule revision a break.
 
They should have still followed the rule, absolutely, and it's their fault they didn't, but the rule is almost as stupid as these guys not following it.
