Anyway, absolutely hoping this is correct information (only of course if his back does check out). Embiid is the clear #1 prospect to me, oozing potential, and for an inexperienced player, he already looks so polished, on both ends.
As far as I'm concerned this is a two player draft, and if Embiid does get red flagged it becomes a one player draft.

This was in a forbes article, for what it's worth

Embiid, of course, had a back injury this season and one last season in high school, involving a stress fracture. Embiid’s agent, Arn Tellem, hasn’t let him be examined by any team doctors but that was a strategy aimed at staying out of Milwaukee, had the Bucks drawn No. 1.

A source tells Forbes.com that Tellem has had Embiid checked out by a back specialist who cleared him. Tellem is expected to make Embiid’s records available to the Cavaliers and let their doctor examine him.

So he's had two back injuries? That's scary. Didn't know that.

I'm assuming you're referring to Wiggins, as I really haven't seen you comment on Parker.

I'm not a huge Parker or Smart fan, and I've soured on Randle as of late. I like Exum, Vonleh, Gordon and Harris a good bit though. Stauskas to a lesser extent.

Yes. Wiggins and Embiid. But if Embiid gets red flagged then Wiggins should be the clear choice.

I've been scouting the prospects, got loads of notes but haven't gotten to Parker or Embiid yet. I've watched Smart, and I'm not all that enamored with him. Some really questionable qualities. Don't get me wrong though, there are some really great qualities as well. I don't think he is right now, but I could see his head getting too big and becoming very hard to deal with.

dan, your hopes for bennett are a bit too high.

the logical choose is joel, possibly even with the flags, but i would maybe venture to take wiggy and shop around waiters.

I said he had a future and listed his attributes and skills. Never said anything about how good he would become. I think it's laughable that he's being written off, so maybe I am too far on the other side to make up for it, but I've never actually said he'd be some great player. I just think there's a lot of potential there, and he fits what David Griffin wants offensively for this team.

He's got long arms, wide shoulders, great athleticism & even greater when you consider his body type, good shot with good mechanics, very strong. He can roll & pop, can take slower PFs off the dribble. The talent is there. The main concerns are health in terms of injury and health in terms of weight, and if he'll ever realize his potential defensively. Big question marks. I'm betting on him.

So we're just going to ignore the most talented player in the draft huh

Yeah. Most basketball skilled player in the draft, imo. Has athletic deficiencies (maybe the wrong word because he's by no means a bad athlete) compared to Wiggins, but he's much father along from a basketball standpoint

So, with the idea of Bennett playing the 4, what's the deal with Tristan Thompson? Is he just hopeless?

Likely to be traded, but I can't imagine he holds much value

I wouldn't move Thompson in hopes of Bennett developing.

If I had to pick between Thompson and Bennett to build a team, I'd take Thompson without hesitation.

Wouldn't the Cavs be better off just moving this pick to a team that really covets Wiggins or Parker?  If they're really wanting to draft Embiid, and the reason is really because they don't want another player in Wiggins or Parker who likes to create with the ball in his hands, then just trade it to someone who does.

Or draft Embiid if you honestly think he's Hakeem and you're into seven footers with back problems they won't disclose, idc.

Seems to me like the ransom they could get in a trade would be worth more to them than actually drafting a player with it.

Because Milwaukee isn't going to trade up for Wiggins, because they are fine with Wiggins or Embiid. And the Sixers wont take Embiid, they'll take Parker/Exum over him.

You trade down, and then there is no assurance you get him whatsoever. Milwaukee isnt going to give up anything, and he wont be there if you trade lower

So trade down further.  Why not trade down to the mid to late lotto and get yourself a wing who can really score without having to create his shot in McDermott, Stauskas or Hood, a.k.a. a guy that can really compliment Irving and Waiters, and collect a shitload of assets for doing it?

It has to do with Thompson not being a good defensive player and being a gigantic waste of space offensively.
