Apparently Jeff Samarzhdlafka is getting traded too.

I hope Beane has a plan, because I like Oakland, especially now that Lawrie is there.

Beane also claimed that they weren't trying to trade Donaldson, but AA called him several times and eventually "blew them away" with that package.

Don't let his 250 avg from last season fool you. Dude has hit like 52 homers in the past two seasons, gets on base a ton and is arguably the best defensive 3B in the league. What more can you ask for?

Manny Machado says hi

It's not even a comparison. Machado is insane with the glove.

I completely disagree with that, and I'm not even going to bring up stats because you're gonna ignore it because you think it's stupid.

But whatever floats your boat man.

Career fielding percentage: Machado .969 to Donaldson .954 (Donaldson's here is below average might I add despite playing in a ballpark with unlimited foul ground)
Runs saved: Machado has more despite 100 fewer games
Career range factor: Machado 2.93 to Donaldson 2.87
Gold Gloves: Machado 1 (only played 1 healthy full season) to Donaldson 0
Career dWar: Machado 6.1 to Donaldson 4.9 again despite 100 fewer games for Machado

Still think they're equal?

Because using fielding percentage is the best way to indicate a players defensive performance?

Runs saved? Ok but how long has donaldson been getting consistent reps at 3rd? Two years. Dudes been all over the field aside from 2013 and 14.

Range factor: ok, pretty close. But does this tell you that Machado is miles better than donaldson? No they're pretty close.

Gold glove: No shit. Machado deserved it. Donaldson should have won this year.

Career dWar? Again, donaldson has bounced around quite a bit. And it's pretty close.

I am aware of how good he is, but saying Machado is miles better than donaldson defensively is a bit of a stretch. They're pretty close.

All I know is Machado makes that play against the royals in the wild card game.

Wasn't Machado's 2013 dWAR like absolutely unheard of? I thought I remember reading that. It was like 4.3 maybe. Donaldson's career best (which I think was this year) wasn't even close to that.

I get that fielding percentage isn't a great metric but it's telling that Donaldson's is below average even with all the extra opportunities he got in that stadium.

Cmon man. Don't base it off one play.

he still a dwar around 3 or and lead the league among 3b at it. im actually intrigued to see machado healthy to see if he can repeat the defensive season he had in 2013

he covers a lot of groud at third, and he has a cannon of an arm.
plus he saved 20 runs last season. that is not at all below average

in 2012 cabrera had a .966 fp at 3rd, i guess hes miles better than donaldson, too.
