Not to mention all their playoff success was because of Kyriebosoxlover12 said:The whole "Celtics had success without Kyrie so he's gonna walk" argument is so unbelievably stupid
We lost in Game 7 because we lacked a go-to scorer. It's honestly like you forgot how good Kyrie is; Terry stepped up but he's not the long term future. Celtics need Kyrie and everyone knows its his team
Kyrie didn't name Boston because at the time, IT was still on the team and was seemingly the future PG for the team. Not one of the teams Ky mentioned had a future star PG, and he wasnt going to force out IT of Boston without Danny wanting to do so.
But what I don't get is this retarded notion that the Celtics must trade away all their built up young talent and assets for a disgruntled expiring contract coming off an injury, or that Kyrie will walk. The Celtics will likely make the Finals, with Kawhi on the roster or not. And they'd likely lose to the Warriors, with Kawhi or not.
If you think Kyrie is leaving Boston to go to the Knicks, trading for Kawhi wouldn't change a goddamn thing. Boston is infinitely more talented of a team than the Knicks are, and adding Kawhi further pushes your awful narrative that Kyrie is leaving to be the star on the team. All that would happen if you trade for Kawhi is that if Kyrie leaves, so will Leonard, and then you just lost Jaylen Brown for goddamn nothing.
It's honestly one of the dumbest takes that has been said on this site, and it contradicts itself as well.
