Good decision

Never liked him. They can replace him with someone similar and pay him a few dollars

lmao no he's not

smart's agent "relaying" to unreliable reporters that he wants out when his client isnt getting any interest league wise due to RFA rules... you're better than this paulie. this is negotiation tactics 101

smart wants to stay in boston, but he mostly wants to get paid. the only teams right now with cap space are Brooklyn, Sacto, and Atlanta. None of the 3 teams are contending, and the latter two have young franchise PGs that paying Smart $14M+ per year only takes minutes away from (and I dont think BKN is counting out DLo yet)

RFA rules and lack of cap space is whats hurting Smart, not the Celtics hurting him. They'd be dumb to be bidding against themselves

Disgusted as much ive been disgusted with boston and their fans this summer

Either way, just spend the money. Youll have enough cap once Kyrie is gone ;-)

Kyrie is the type of dude to go against the world and take on the biggest challenge ever

Oh no one has had success in New York?

Hold my beer

Thats why i respect him. Players that have that mentality is what its all about, man

After watching this celtics team kill it without him, no way id be able to stay

Plus celtics were never on his list

He's a dirty player, though I'm not surprised a Duke fan wouldn't admit it

The whole "Celtics had success without Kyrie so he's gonna walk" argument is so unbelievably stupid

We lost in Game 7 because we lacked a go-to scorer. It's honestly like you forgot how good Kyrie is; Terry stepped up but he's not the long term future. Celtics need Kyrie and everyone knows its his team

Kyrie didn't name Boston because at the time, IT was still on the team and was seemingly the future PG for the team. Not one of the teams Ky mentioned had a future star PG, and he wasnt going to force out IT of Boston without Danny wanting to do so.

But what I don't get is this retarded notion that the Celtics must trade away all their built up young talent and assets for a disgruntled expiring contract coming off an injury, or that Kyrie will walk. The Celtics will likely make the Finals, with Kawhi on the roster or not. And they'd likely lose to the Warriors, with Kawhi or not.

If you think Kyrie is leaving Boston to go to the Knicks, trading for Kawhi wouldn't change a goddamn thing. Boston is infinitely more talented of a team than the Knicks are, and adding Kawhi further pushes your awful narrative that Kyrie is leaving to be the star on the team. All that would happen if you trade for Kawhi is that if Kyrie leaves, so will Leonard, and then you just lost Jaylen Brown for goddamn nothing.

It's honestly one of the dumbest takes that has been said on this site, and it contradicts itself as well.
