For fun lets say Lebron is put on the trade block

What then
Who would actually trade for him
And who would that team give up

Would the package be ridiculous or not really because of his age

So many questions. We need this to happen

Lakers have good young players, cap space, and no bad contracts

Theres no reason to trade lebron. Just have a better offseason

Well lets say they dont sign any big FAs in the summer

And the team isnt any better
So just keep doing this over and over again?

Signed Bron for an 8th seed?

It isn't going to happen because they would have to take back salary that would impede their ability to sign multiple guys to the max. So they are looking for a playoff team, that is willing to disrupt their roster weeks before the playoffs for a rental of LeBron. AND THEN, give the Lakers contracts in return that are expiring. Basically the best the Lakers can hope for is a bunch of expiring contracts and some 1st round picks. That's gonna be a hard sell.

BUT, you said to give it a try, so here goes nothing...

I think it makes the most sense for an Eastern Conference team to make the move. We have all seen the impact a LeBron can have there. He can take a lottery team like the Cavs and drag them to the playoffs. So then it needs to be a team in contention, but not too good. The good teams (TOR, BOS, MIL) already have their teams set and are working on rotations and chemistry right now. Adding a LeBron and subtracting rotation players would disturb their momentum. The Heat, Nets, and Pistons come to mind.

Using the trade machine, I could not find a deal that would even allow the Heat to trade for LBJ, so they would need a third team in on it. I will count them out.

I found one possibility for the Nets:

Nets receive: LeBron James  &     Lakers receive: Allen Crabbe, Joe Harris, A. Williams, Dzanan Musa, 2020 1st round pick, 2021 1st round pick

I don't think this deal happens at all. The Lakers basically only get 2 1st round picks out of it. But I think this is the best-case scenario for them. Teams looking to go to the playoffs and win are not going to give up great assets.

The Pistons actually have a few trades that could work, but none of them include expiring contracts. The Lakers would have to make the deals in hopes that they could use those pieces in another deal (maybe for AD??) somewhere down the line.

Pistons receive: LeBron James  &  Lakers receive: Andre Drummond, Langston Galloway     OR      Pistons receive LeBron James  & Lakers receive Blake Griffin

It works. I just don't think it makes sense for either team. They could also do a straight swap of Griffin for LeBron. If the Pistons were looking to shed a bad contract, I think it might make sense, but I feel like they have placed all their eggs in the Griffin basket. Maybe they want to move on though. The Lakers could conceivably take Griffin or Drummond and make a better offer for AD this Summer. But they would likely need feedback/confirmation from New Orleans before pulling the trigger.

"I keep telling him i'm going to come back and finish (in Portland). That's something him and I have talked about - playing together again."

LMA talking about going back to Portland and rejoining Lillard

Yeah didn't like being second fiddle. Him and Dame just barely cleared the air earlier this season.

Also Jazz fans are raising $25k (the amound of Westbrook's fine) to donate it to a Human Rights Charity
