Lee Nailon is one of my go-to names when i think of random nba players
He always is one of the first guys that comes out of my mouth for whatever reason

Mike James, JO, Bonzi could be tough as well. Mike is a gunner

Pels have 16M in cap space, kinda shitty they're spending 22M on Hill and Asik next year.

You'd think they are #1 on CP3's list. Maybe tied with the Spurs

I get irritated just thinking about Asik. Can someone just convince him to retire or something?

And if CP3 doesn't come back I'll kidnap the GM of his new team and force him to trade him back to the Clippers and never make it out of the first round again.

what, is he going to play for half a season?

Chris Paul is the President of the players union, and was the one who specifically pushed for the DPVE and other rules to increase max contracts. Whether he stays in LA is another question to be had, but there isn't a chance he's taking less than the max, which is $35.7M in year 1.

Pelicans and Spurs both have to move some pretty large contracts in order to have the cap space to sign Paul. And I don't see teams out there looking to absorb the Asik and Hill contracts, or Gasol and Parker contracts, just for nothing essentially.

I thought by stating what Hill and Asik earn I made it clear that they wouldn't have enough money for him

Is that $16 mil if they renounce Jrue?  Unless they have some creative ideas, IDK if that would be the smartest move.  Holiday isn't the most reliable guy, but he's a much better option than anyone else they could realistically add this offseason.

In: Jeremy Lin, JJ Reddick, Ian Clark, Wesley Iwundu
Out: Jrue Holiday, Ajinca, Frazier
Rotation:
Lin/Clark/Cook
Reddick/Moore/Crawford
Hill/Iwundu/QPon
AD/Cunningham/Diallo
Cousins/Montiejunas/Asik
How It Gets Done: The key to this offseason is Jrue Holiday and the Knicks doing the Pelicans a solid by doing a sign and trade. In this deal, the Knicks send Melo out to the Clippers and Lance Thomas to the Nets, while the Pelicans send Holiday to the Knicks, the Clippers sign and trade JJ to the Pelicans (for a fairly substantial price), and the Pelicans send Ajinca, Frazier, and a protected pick to Brooklyn for Lin again. They could also send Asik instead with the pick and the Clippers can throw some trinkets Brooklyn’s way. After that, the Pelicans use the MLE to bring in Ian Clark and they use their 2nd round pick on Iwundu (a guy I LOVE!). They use the bi-annual on a backup big.
Roster Outlook: Shooting is no longer a problem as the Pelicans add studs in Clark and Reddick, not to mention Lin, who isn’t to shabby himself and fits Gentry’s system. The offense should not be an issue, but the wing defense is probably worse than the roster above it. Iwundu is a fantastic project, but he wouldn’t be in the rotation, as we would see a ton of three-guard lineups with this roster. This is an explosive team that could challenge Houston and Golden State for top offensive efficiency.

I do like this idea tho

IDK why the Knicks would even consider it, but hey... Phil Jackson, right?

Wouldn't it be smart though if they try to make something happen while they still have at least some cap room? If they sign Jrue for 20+ mil this year and then Cousins for 30+ mil next year, then they have no choice but to run with that roster.

Not saying it's gonna be easy to get anyone better, but even if Paul says he'd look at them if they clear the money, you gotta go for it. Move Hill's contract with a pick, stretch a motherfucker, I don't know.

Nah, you're right.  I'm sure signing him to 20+ mil and being trapped or letting him walk for nothing aren't their only two options... I'm just not smart enough to come up with anything unique in between.

I wonder if the Clippers knew Paul would walk to go to Nola, if they'd be willing to do a S&T of Jrue+Hill+pick for CP3

they would still need more depth. even with cp3, are they going to win the west? i would still go for it because injuries and meltdowns do happen.

Injuries and meltdowns? You might as well be describing CP, AD and Cousins

Didn't CP3 have a handshake agreement to a max extension this season?
