These rumors need to get the fuck away from my Pelicans guys. Let us pretend that we'll be good for at least a little longer.

It seems ridiculous that a team can only be a super team based on how they're formed
It's just a way to classify these teams like the Heat and the Warriors. "Dream Team" is actually a better term, used by Lebron himself. That way it doesn't suggest they're a "super" team, but it's still surreal for a team like that to come together.

So who's Boston taking? Tatum seems like a good fit, but kind of a disappointing outcome after winning the lottery

Or is this all about a bigger trade

I will say that my barometer is off regarding the Celtics, because I usually feel more accurate with their transactions (like predicting Jaylen+Horford last year) than I do this year. But here are my thoughts.

There are two reasons to trade down from #1 to #3:

• if you value 2-3 guys all equally, and think the gap in between them is less significant than getting *hopefully* another Top 5 pick next year. I personally think Fultz is well above the other prospects, so that's why I was so confused by the trade, unless its for the other reason

• the trade was done to save the cap space, and is anticipating another big trade by Ainge

Right now, if Boston waives the non-guaranteed contracts of Zeller, D.Jackson, and Mickey, and renounces the FA rights to Olynyk, Jerebko, Amir, Green, and Young, the Celtics would be at a salary of $71.27M, which is a little over $500K from obtaining a max free agent. And with Demetrius Jackson having a cap hit of $650K if cut, the Celtics do have max cap if they just trade him for a Top 55 protected pick or something. They'd be ~$2M over if they didn't trade from #1 to #3

They would presumably sign Griffin or Hayward to a max deal, and then come July 20th (thirty days after being selected), whoever Boston took would be eligible to be traded for somebody.

It wouldn't make sense really that Boston would do this on Saturday when the draft is on Thursday if they were keeping the pick (unless this was a gesture so they could get Jackson to work out with us which would be dumb af). There ought to be a Part 2, where they give other teams like Chicago, Indiana, etc enough time to see who they would want third overall.

---------

But in my mind its gotta be part of a bigger deal, but most likely we won't know about it for another month. The trade has to go after Free Agency in order for Ainge to not have fucked this all up

Do you think drafting Jackson would be a definite sign of another team being involved, or would he still be #1 on their big board, even for their own roster?

(assuming Ball goes #2)

This is the part where I really have no idea. My board was Fultz 1, Tatum 2 but with Fultz a significant tier above the rest. Clearly he's not in the mind of Danny Ainge, unless its literally all just about the cap savings.

There is a solid chance Jackson gets drafted by Boston. Maybe he is the top choice for Danny this entire time (although I'm still on board the idea that Jackson's going to LA) and I wouldn't be surprised by it, but we're not going to know if its for a trade or not until it goes down in mid-late July. '

My board, minus Fultz now, for the Celtics now goes as following:

1. Jayson Tatum
2. Lonzo Ball
3. Josh Jackson
4. Dennis Smith Jr
5. De'Aaron Fox
6. Malik Monk
7. Frank Ntilikina
8. Jonathan Issac
9. Lauri Markannen

Tatum has Orlando Magic written all over him.  The Tobias Harris they've been missing.

I really want DSJ for Orlando. Dude could get really get the green light there.

And Elfrid Payton can suck a leg, I haven't watched enough to say if he got any better but in my mind he's still a shitty shooter that turns the ball over a lot.

my friend lives in orlando and we were talking about what they need a few weeks ago

either DSJ or Monk I think would be a great fit for the magic. they need someone who can score points, simple as that

Because I'm obviously a terrible barometer for things like this --

would the Sixers trade the 2018 unprotected Lakers pick to move from #3 to #1 to get Fultz? Josh Jackson definitely fits the Danny Ainge Identity better than Fultz (even though Markelle is by far the most talented player in the draft), and to have two potential Top 5 picks in 2018?

I just don't know if Philly does that

fuck.

blake to boston and hayward to miami makes the most sense imo
