What's the point of taking on Anderson's shit contract just to get rid of Melo?  You either buy him out and eat that cap hit, or just stand pat and let him walk in 2018.  Knicks are in a better spot long term with either of those two options unless the Rockets have a decent asset they can throw in.

they are looking for a third team to take anderson. they only need to take back $14.5M in salary if the team doesnt have the cap, which is a solid $12M in savings from paying Melo

the media started all of this because hes from california. he told indiana he wanted to test his value in free agency and the rumors exploded from there. hes just doing good pr work by shooting the rumors down. maybe he does reup in okc, maybe he doesnt. depends on how the season plays out.
