It's going to be Golden state, San Antonio or OKC

From what I've heard Durant wants long term stability this offseason, so that could add an interesting wrinkle.

And there is definite worry about Westbrook next off-season, so I agree.

I still think the Spurs are getting slept on in this process. He has made it clear he's a basketball decision, and they are by far the best run organization in basketball, maybe in sports in general. He wouldn't be viewed as a "front runner" considering he already beat that team and their original big three is all but done. He would be the lead dog.

If I were in Durant's situation personally, I'd have the Spurs as my #1 option, followed by Boston, then OKC, then GS, then LAC, then Miami.

I'd go to Boston before I went to Miami. Miami's situation is really not good long-term.

Do the Clippers even have the room? Why are they involved?

They have better young players than Boston does and he can make more money there (based on taxes)

Personally I think the Cavs are the best situation. Force a S&T imo. Those still allowed in the CBA?

How is Miami better than Boston? The only way Miami can afford Durant btw is by Dwayne Wade signing a $10-12M contract and letting Whiteside and Deng go. Maybe you can get Bosh to retire to save money for Wade, who isn't taking less than $20M btw, but that still isn't a great situation

Dragic, Richardson, Winslow, McRoberts, Wade, Durant, Bosh's contract and anyone willing to take veteran minimums. That'd be the Heat's roster. That's not better than Boston

And saving $10M over 4 years is not a reason to choose Miami over Boston. If money was his factor he wouldn't be leaving the Thunder

Durant won't pick Miami, but if he did I'm 100% sure Wade would take less to fit him in.

Less, sure. But how much less?

They currently have salaries of $49.8M under contract, which is $44.2M in cap space. BUT Dwayne Wade has a cap hold of $30M currently, meaning the Heat cannot sign Durant unless Wade agrees to re-sign for under $16M apy, which is a drastic paycut knowing he made more than that with Lebron in town, and would be in the same market price wise as Kent Bazemore and Evan Turner.

I can see Wade signing for $22M in efforts to add talent, but $16M and below is steep. And that involves letting go of Whiteside, who was by far their best player

spurs for the winning culture and the team in place.

gs, obvious. they'd be unbeatable for the foreseeable future.

boston would likely make more moves to add and they could take the east over.

those are my choices for where he lands IF he leaves okc. i put the spurs at the top but gs is probably more attractive.

Meanwhile if Boston renounces their cap holds to Turner, Zeller, Sullinger, and Datome, and cut Jerebko, Holland, and Amir's unguaranteed deals, they'll have $34M in salary, plus $2.6M in cap holds, which would be $57.4M in cap space. That means you can max out Durant and still have one full max contract to spend on someone like Horford or Whiteside in Free Agency, or trade for a player like Demarcus Cousins (if you sign Durant it doesn't matter nearly as much if you overpay on trades to get additional talent)

"Take over the East" is overstating it. The Cavs would still be better than a Durant-led Celtics team with another max level FA. Honestly, it would be a mistake for the Celtics to blow their cap space on another free agent to go with him this year, instead of waiting for a better one to come around next season. But, that is the problem, they HAVE to offer the idea of adding a second max-level FA right now, or their pitch is severely weakened against the likes of the Spurs, Warriors, or Thunder.

I think if you add Durant and another star without moving Isaiah, Bradley, and Crowder, I would say Boston would be heavily competitive with Cleveland to win the East. But for sure they would be the 2 seed without question.

Spurs are still the best option though. Play with Kawhi, Aldridge, and the best coach in the NBA, and playing back in Texas like he did in college.

The only player you could add without trading any of those guys would probably be Horford or Whiteside and I would disagree with the assertion that they could seriously compete with the Cavs in that scenario. Wouldn't be a blow out necessarily, but I think the Cavs would be heavy favorites. I also question how effective Isaiah would be as a secondary/third option.
