the astros suck
I knew last year was a fluke

Especially keuchel

Sports illustrated picked them to win it all. So did a ton of people. Classic overrated from the previous season team

That FA class is so crazy, anything could happen. Especially if everyone opts. If I'm Harper, I 100% hit the open market. I really think him resigning with the Nationals is dependent on the season leading up. If the pieces aren't there, I'd say fuck resigning.

As for Keuchel, he'll be fine. He pjtched well in 2014 as well and his FIP is still very good at 3.04. Slow start like Price. Walks are up, but everything eventually goes towards the average in the long run.

I wouldn't risk injury before hand. If the Nationals are willing to offer me something crazy like 400 million, I don't quite see the rationale for waiting.

Yeah but thats like anything if someone is willing to overpay. Theres no way I take a contract that isn't making me the highest paid in baseball.

They'll make an offer that large. I don't expect him to hit the open market

i get that you're convinced he'll be a dodger (because you've been predicting every star player to end up on the Lakers in the NBA, and the Dodgers in the MLB), but that doesn't mean he'll actually test free agency if the Nationals give him a lucrative enough offer. Based on your logic, no star would ever sign an extension, which is not the case.

And saying everyone is gonna be a laker is not true
Nor dodgers

But its like 99% certain he's gonna test free agency
And not many teams will be able to offer him a huge deal. Dodgers obviously can, and he is from vegas

I will eat my hat if Harper doesn't go to free agency. Even if the Nationals get up to 400 million, Boras knows he can take that and get even higher with an open auction

This is a generational talent and probably the best player to ever hit free agency. Boras does whatever he can to ensure Harper doesn't put ink to paper during his arbitration years.

Even if he does resign, guarantee that has an opt out clause after two or three years so he can test free agency at 28/29

regardless of what you big market hopefuls think, why is this even a topic? He's not a free agent until 2019.
