I get your point for individual match ups , but overall teams were better back then imo. Mj didnt have the cakewalks lebron had. Not to mention that era wasnt so offensive friendly with all this spacing and touch fouls which makes it easier. That era was tougher. Switch lebron to MJs era and switch MJ to this era for example. MJ would absolutely torch this small ball nonsense vs lebron who always struggles when a team hes facing has true bigs who can defend the paint, like the 90s era did.

The point of the argument we had back then was which era was toucher and who had easier competition thru out the entire playoffs.

You seriously gonna say lebron had a tougher road to the larry obrien than MJ did?

Even just off the top of my head , the shaq penny magic in the second rounds , patrick ewing knicks in second rounds/ECF , the miller pacers and so on... u seriously think the hawks of this era or toronto that lebron takes out are any good? I mean u can make some points for hibbert pg13 your celtics , but when you realize he played mavs in the finals, literally inexperienced 23 year olds kd russ harden , i mean idk man

I find it funny u say wiggins will be rudy gay 2.0 when barnes has a way bigger chance of becoming that instead of wiggins lol

Barnes, is what, 3 years older though? Regardless of who you think is better now, you could at least admit that Barnes' ceiling is lower, right?

And I'm not going to dive into that MJ thing again but claiming LeBron had more difficult matchups than MJ is so laughable

Yeah because MJ was so intimidated by Dan Majerle in the Finals...

Looking at whoever his shooting guard counterpart is for comparison is stupid and lazy, and the same for LeBron. Teams aren't guarding MJ and LeBron with 1 guy, they're guarding them with 5 guys. Help schemes, double teams, traps.... teams throw a ton of guys at both of these players.

I guess it depends on what your original expectations were for Wiggins. I think there was a false expectation among people who didn't really know his game all that well coming out of HS and even college that he could be a LeBron type player. He's always been a good scorer but I don't ever see him being like a #1 option on a great team.

His rebounding numbers should be higher than they are (weird that I feel like people were saying the same thing about KAT). Where he has the potential that Barnes can't even come close to is defensively. He hasn't quite developed like most (including myself) expected defensively yet, but he's 21 years old, and that can still come. If he ends up in his prime being a 23-25 PPG guy and is a lockdown defender, I think that's a needle mover, and obviously better than Rudy Gay. Quite possible that he falls lower than that projection above, but like I said, he's 21 years old. Way too early to draw a conclusion on him.

On the flip side, Barnes has been essentially the exact same player since his freshman year of college, just improving the skills he was already good at. He's a good athlete but he's not explosive. He has a major flaw in his ball handling and the ability to create his own shot. He's still earning money off the recruiting expectations he had in 2010 (not that he wouldn't be in the league or anything, but just that I think there's this false illusion that he's eventually going to become the player he was projected to be).
