It's not even a ridiculous thing to say, the year he won it both Chris Paul and Kevin Garnett had a better case for MVP, the year everyone thinks he should have won he scored 35 on 27 shots and was a 7 seed. When else was he supposed to win MVP?

I know but i was just listing the two best players in the last 10 years , saying how best players obviously dont get the mvp each year

Youre trying to get deep into it, even tho u know kobe was the best player in the league for years, but the mvp isnt about the best player most of the times

Anyway, weve had enough kobe lebron talks the last 3 or 4 years so im done here, new topic

I truly hope KD is sitting on the bench and realizes that this team needs to be ran thru Curry

He should be the third wheel tbh, just where he belongs for hopping on the wagon

Let Curry and Klay do their thing

32-9 when having a triple double

Shit if those few rebounds translate in wins, rebound away russ

You see the hypocrisy in that stat, right? There isn't a game on the season that Westbrook isn't trying to get a triple double. He very clearly tries to pad his stats to get his triple doubles, and that's fine because he did just break an NBA record for most in a season.

Nobody really cares about him padding his assist numbers or his scoring numbers. Tons of players in recent memory have done that (Kobe in 06, Rondo in 2011, Harden somewhat right now, etc), as adding points to a score is how you win games. The issue is the blatant rebounding, where his goal is to get a rebound primarily, and that often means he's leaving his defenders.

A lot of the time, the offense will miss the shot, and combined with Westbrook's effort and Adams/Kanter's boxing out Westbrook will get the board. But they don't always miss, and THAT is what you seem to overlook. Westbrook cannot get all the defensive rebounds if the shots go in.

TL;DR:
When teams miss shots, Westbrook gets enough rebounds to get triple doubles, and OKC is 32-9

When teams actually make the shots because Westbrook left them open to pad his rebounding numbers, then he doesn't get a triple double and OKC is 8-24.

That's the issue. It has nothing to do with the triple double itself but rather if the opposition will take advatange of playing 5-on-4 offense and make open shots

Isaiah's probably having the best season among those not being really considered a serious MVP candidate in a long time

If he weren't literally the worst statistical defender in the league, he'd probably be the favorite

He's in a similar situation to Kevin Durant. Best player on the best team in their respective conference. Sometimes they don't want to give the MVP to a guy on a super team.
