LeBron kicking it out to Melo at the elbow just doesn't seem appealing to me.

How effective is he though if he has to change who he is?

Like Dan said, Love is already the better spot up shooter.

I never said Kevin Love was a better catch and shoot player, I said he was a better shooter, and he was more accustomed to the role.

It's nice that people think Melo would just suddenly change his play style overnight, though, very optimistic.

Not to mention everyone is just disregarding the rebounding aspect. The Cavs already aren't a good rebounding team, this would make them so much worse. They're both bad defensively, but Love will actually give effort.

I think your defensive statement is wrong. I think on a good team, Melo would give an effort

I'm just going into NBA.com's player tracking, so I'm going off what I'm seeing here

98.3% of the threes Kevin Love has made have been assisted on, and 53.2% of his two-pointers have been assisted.
That compares to Melo, who is at 74.8% and 31.0% respectively. I think Melo's shooting percentages would go up if he were in Cleveland (Lebron is 5th in the league in Assist%)

That said, Love's rebounding still puts him over the top for me

Also, wow. Just saw something insane

For players with 25+ minutes per game, this is the leaderboard for best 3pt% defenders

1. Marcus Smart -- 31.6%
2. Kevin Durant -- 31.7%
3. Klay Thompson -- 31.9%
4. Andre Iguodala -- 32.3%
5. Draymond Green -- 32.4%
6. Steph Curry -- 32.6%

Game, blouses.

And anyone who defends him from the 3PT line has a lower defensive percentage

So Marcus smart belongs on the Warriors?

He'd make them so much worse

I meant of that post more as the Warriors have amazing 3pt shooters and have the #2-6 defenders against the 3

Also you clearly do not watch Marcus Smart so I'm going to ignore that

No you meant that post to support Marcus smart haha

And I do think he wouldn't help them, he'd be such a negative offensively

Marcus only shoots when he feels he has to

One of his best games this year was when he was moved back to the 2nd unit versus Orlando... Shot 3/7 from the field (2/3 from deep), but had 11 assists in just 23 minutes of play. When he's Marcus Smart the facilitator, he's really solid on offense (shooting 50% from corner 3 this year too)

His stats look awful because he has that Mamba mentality in him (without the talent) that if he thinks he's the best option for the play, he'll take the shot (and probably miss it).

Against Portland last week, there was a point in the end of the 2nd where on court was him, Rozier, Olynyk, Jerebko, and Jaylen. They tried to run a play with Rozier and Olynyk, and it got flat shut down, badly. The ball got swung to Marcus with like 6,7 seconds left and he took a 30 footer with confidence, and rimmed out. Even though he's not a good shooter, he took the shot because he felt that nobody else on the court had any chance of doing anything.

Fast forward to the final 3 minutes of the game. Smart gets a huge steal, a huge charge, a game clinching offensive board and putback, and just had excellent hustle that gave the C's the win. He didn't take any dumb shots, and from when he entered in the 4th to games end he was a +6 with 9 points in that 6 minutes, with no shots away from the rim. That was because Horford and Isaiah were on the court and he didnt try to do too much

He'd fucking excel being in that second unit for Golden State. Marcus Smart makes winning plays, and I'm hardly the only person that says that. If you actually watch a Celtics game, it is very obvious that Marcus Smart brings a positive impact to the team and they play better with him on the court than with him off. He's still not a good shooter, and probably won't ever be. But as Scal put it yesterday -- he's our Draymond. He's gonna do whatever it takes to get the W

Pelicans once again have a nice lead and then blow it. I was amazed when they beat Minnesota.

Dolan invites Oakley to MSG after meeting with Silver, Jordan

It took some meddling from the NBA, but it appears James Dolan and Charles Oakley have patched up their strained relationship.

Commissioner Adam Silver met with the two Monday at the league office in New York, while Michael Jordan participated by phone in an effort to help end the feud between the New York Knicks owner and former player.

"Both Mr. Oakley and Mr. Dolan were apologetic about the incident and subsequent comments, and their negative impact on the Knicks organization and the NBA," Silver said in a statement issued Monday. "Mr. Dolan expressed his hope that Mr. Oakley would return to MSG as his guest in the near future."

Oakley was banned from Madison Square Garden last week after he was forcible removed from Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers and subsequently arrested. Dolan said Friday the ban will be lifted once the retired player gets control of his "personality problems."

Dolan suggested Oakley battled with alcoholism, which the Knicks legend denied and may take legal action against.

The commissioner called the fiasco "beyond disheartening."

Leave it to Silver and the GOAT to take care of this mess.

Say what you want about Westbrook padding his rebound numbers, but the dude is a legit scrapper.

Dude just boxed out Gortat and Markieff Morris on back to back possessions.
