Westbrook's defense isn't good either, nor Harden

They aren't as bad as Isaiah but if you're going to discredit those who don't play defense, then Kawhi or Durant is the MVP

Isaiah Thomas is 435th out of 453 NBA players this year.

Russell Westbrook currently stands at 6th tied with Rudy Gobert out of 453 NBA players this year. With Draymond 4th.

I mean , gonna put it plain and simple for you man..... thats quite the difference..

The one thing that sucks about Isaiah's defense is that unlike Harden and Westbrook, he's trying 100% on defense, and is just limited by his size. He's not a bad perimeter defender either.

Teams have figured out this year to set up a screen at the top of the key with whomever Isaiah is guarding and their top scorer, and because Boston will almost always ICE and switch, it gets guys like Lillard or Derozan in a 1-on-1 isolation against Isaiah, and Thomas just simply isn't big enough like Smart or long enough like Bradley to stay in front of his guy as he drives to the hoop. That forces Horford to rotate over to provide help defense, but either the help is late or ineffective on the shot, or the offense swings to find the open man -- either whoever Horford was guarding in the low post or whoever is in the zone of the weakside post and that corner three.

Our defensive line of Smart / Bradley / Crowder / Horford / Amir is really fucking good, but it has such limited offensive capability. Isaiah is needed on offense for this team to win, but his defense is almost as bad as he is good offensively. That's why I've been saying for a while that either Boston needs another go-to scorer if we want to go anywhere, or this offseason sell high on Bradley and Isaiah and build around Markelle Fultz

In recent days IT has actually jumped from 8th to 5th in OBPM passing harden up just by a tad bit

Def has been killing 4th quarters , but thats some horrendous defense.

lol aside for DRPM being not a good measure of defensive ability at all (2015-16 All-Defensive 1st team guard Avery Bradley last year had a DRPM of -1.24), Westbrook isn't 6th -- he's 226th with a slightly negative DRPM of -0.08

If Bradley is winning 1st teams with a -1.24 , -0.08 aint so bad

Again , thats some difference between Russ and IT either way, and a difference between a good defender and a bad defender

I explained it like a week or two ago

Every team's goal is to win. Simple as that. But most teams cannot get good without being bad first, getting young star talent, and then be good.

Boston got Jaylen Brown this year, and have the next two Brooklyn picks. Brooklyn is doing our tanking for us, so there is no need for us to do the tanking and lowering our ticket sales. Make the team as good as possible right now, and let Brooklyn attain the young talent for us.

Bradley and Isaiah are FAs in 2018-19, so what option makes the most sense?

• Pay both Bradley and Isaiah the max deals they both command (~$60M between the two in Year 1 salary) and build around them for 2nd place in the East
• Trade Bradley and Isaiah before they hit FA, get good young return, and build around the Brooklyn picks

My point is that DRPM isn't a good measure in the first place.

I'm not denying Isaiah isn't either, he's definitely worse -- but Russ isn't a good defender

Fuck what the fans think bc obviously if u got fans voting for guys like zaza and shit its not accurate whatsover. Kobe woulda gotten voted in by players and media either way his last year out of respect, its not just what the fans wanted, the entire world wanted to see kobes last all star game, use ur brain. Russ got voted first by players and media also. Fans just pick a more likeable guy and in this case it was the golden boy on the best assembled team ever so whatever, it is what it is, end of convo, idec anymore
Lol this is hilarious how you try and spin this

Which is fine. The All-Star game needs to be less perceived as giving out individual accolades, and more about putting the players in the game the fans want to see.
We have All NBA teams for that.

I'd have to imagine this is Matt Ryan's last series if they get a TD
