The Heat have really fucked over Wade, but it's a business I guess.

Well obviously other teams are too but apparently Riley is going to do the same pitch on Durant that he did on LeBron where he just flashes the rings haha

I can't see Durant going to Miami

He's the media darling. Either he stays in OKC, or pulls a LeBron and "goes back home" to Washington.

after seeing how the whole wade fiasco is going, you'd have to think that'd play a huge part in any free agents going there now. they supposedly offered him a contract in the $8M-$9M per year range. while hes not the star he was, he's devoted himself to that franchise and thats a slap in the face.

While true, you have to look at it from a business perspective.

The cap will be set at around $67M, and if all options are declined, they are at $44M in salary, meaning $23M in cap room. Now, Wade and Dragic said they'd decline their options, but what about Deng? He has a $10M player option, and he'd be stupid to turn it down if he's looking for money. His value is FAR below $10M. So he'll probably pick it up, which gives the Heat now approx $13M in cap space.

And now you have a problem. The Heat will probably want to keep the #10 overall pick, which costs a bit over $2M in Year 1. And they just traded two future 1sts to the Suns for Goran Dragic, who says he wants a max contract. Wade also wants $14M+ from the Heat too.

They don't have the cap space on the team to give Wade his money for what he's done. Rather, they can only afford really what he can give them now, which is about $8M in valuation.

Deng could very well opt out and try to get like a 25M contract.

I don't understand why we don't just give Wade a one year (near) max.

Also business perspective is one thing, but showibg that you treat your franchise player well is just as inportant for future business.

Man, Wade in another jersey would be weird as hell.

Still hard to do when Dragic is looking for a max contract, and it looks worse as an organization to trade 2 first rounders for half a season of a guy you didn't re-sign.

i see the business side of sports fairly well. i understand this stuff but taking care of your star player, and most well known franchise player should still come first.
