I am just saying, it is nice that they have that little plaque that says "we were the best defensive team in the league over the regular season." Maybe they turn it on and replicate the defense they had over the 82 game schedule but this is the playoffs, it does not matter what they did a month or so ago. Right now they are a middle of the pack defensive playoff team and Memphis is playing superb defense.

That plaque is nice though.

There's still a difference between "playing better defense", which I think is what you're saying, and "better defensively", which is what BWare is saying.

Having to defend Damian Lillard AND LaMarcus Aldridge is more difficult than defending anyone on either Milwaukee or Chicago's rosters...

Doesn't change the fact that Portland was a below average team without Matthews

I just want the series to be over because the Cavs are done, but I'm annoyed by this sentiment that Rose "did a good job on Kyrie" in game 3, when he was just missing lay ups at the rim.

3 turnovers by LeBron and not even trying on defense. Glad nothing has changed.

So you're not going to acknowledge how terrible Portland was post-Matthews injury? Like always, only providing the information that fits your narrative.

I WOULD say that Chicago's numbers are probably greatly inflated by Game 6 vs. Milwaukee, but you are the one who decided to use a small sample size, which can easily be influenced by one good game.

Hence why I would use the larger, 82 game sample size, where Golden State was the best defensive team in the league. Even if you add in playoff numbers, they're still better.
Portland lost something when Matthews went down but it was nothing offensively. They went from a offense that was hovering at the bottom of the top 10 (#10 or #11) offensively with Matthews to one of the top 2 or 3 offenses in the league without him. What they lost was his impact defensively, they literally went from a top three team among GS and SA to a bottom three team among the Knicks and Lakers without him.

Actually didn't know that about their offense but it definitely seems like an anomaly. Afflalo was the primary replacement for Wes and he was awful in Portland. McCollum looked really good in the playoffs but that may have been a flash in the pan
