That Lakers game though...I don't know who scheduled that but come on...

That's the same night as one of the most popular Mardi Gras parades in the city, the SKC will be empty on national TV.

The Detroit pick seems harsh

The Pelicans schedule is actually really favorable, I'm surprised.  Normally it isn't.

Yeah, but it's going to change drastically throughout the season due to injuries, suspensions and whatnot.

And isn't it about the same every year? Two against the other conference, four against the teams in your division and three against the rest in your conference?

That leaves 6 more intraconference games they have to make up, that can't be the difference you're talking abut though?

I'd assume the major differences between the schedules are how close together some of the elite teams are on your schedule.

You draw different teams, four games against your division, four games against six out of division opponents, three against four out of division opponents (2 home and 1 road, 1 home and 2 road), what kind of West and East coast trips did you get?

For example, the Pelicans drew the Clippers, Suns, TWolves, Blazers, Jazz, and Kings as their six opponents they play twice at home and twice on the road. The two out of division teams they play three times (twice at home and once on road) are the Lakers and Nuggets, while the other two teams they play three times (once at home and twice on road) are the Warriors and Thunder. They got two West Coast trips and two East coast trips. This is different from a team like OKC that got one of each.

Then of course there's the back to backs and days of rest. How many back to backs do you play? How many games do you play on the road on the second night of a back to back? How many at home? How many times do you face an opponent on the second night of a back to back? What about the first night of a back to back? A lot of this has to do with where you are located, as I mentioned the other day. It is, imo, one of the biggest factors in how good of a schedule you get. For example, Utah last season not only had one of the highest numbers of games where they got more days of rest than their opponents, they also played 33% of their games throughout the season against a team on the second night of a back to back. The Pelicans for example had just 14%.

Yes, everyone plays everyone, but there are numerous ways to land a favorable schedule. Like I said, not all schedules are created equal. Some teams get it easy, and some really get tough schedules.

I don't get what the Pels have to do with the fact that all scheduled aren't created equal?
