DeAndre Jordan and Chris Paul's relationship is what people think LeBron and Love are like
Overrated in the sense that he's this modern day Bill Russell (I heard someone refer to him this way just today), but is he a hell of a defender? Of course. I even talked about how much id love him alongside AD.CameronCrazy06 said:Wasn't nola calling Jordan overrated all year?
I'm just wondering how they replace him
Swear to god you said he was an average defender and highly overrated in that aspectnolafan33 said:Overrated in the sense that he's this modern day Bill Russell (I heard someone refer to him this way just today), but is he a hell of a defender? think that was drummond to be honest.CameronCrazy06 said:Swear to god you said he was an average defender and highly overrated in that aspect
nolafan33 said:DeAndre is an interesting case. He doesn't give you much of anything offensively outside of dunks, and his defense really isn't as good as people think it is. But the guy does pull down a ton of boards (even though some of it is stat padding), block a lot of shots, and effect even more.
nolafan33 said:I don't think that's even remotely the case. Yes he's their anchor, yes he allows their perimeter guys to gamble, etc etc. To many people think just because someone is overrated means they aren't good or even great at something. There are people who think he should have won DPOY over guys like Kawhi and Draymond Green, that would mean he's an elite defender. Atleast IMO. In that sense, he is overrated.
Just a quick fewIs he better offensively or does he have Chris Paul? I mean we know you cant throw the ball to DeAndre and ask him to get you two, likely won't happen.
The big sticking point for me is the paint defense, I've been saying this for years but DeAndre is VASTLY overrated in that respect, I'd struggle to even call him average. Here are some guys that defend at the ram better than Jordan. Amare Stoudemire, Marcin Gortat, Cody Zeller, DeMarcus Cousins, and Jonas Valanciunas. That's just some. Meanwhile Gobert leads the league at 38.9%. He was good last season as well at 41.2%. If also look at the foul rate relative to the block rate.
Rebounding, both are good rebounders but I would say Gobert battles more. Jordan pulls down about 45% of contested rebounds, Gobert about 48%. Both improve their teams when on the court rebounding wise.
Can't really speak on the post defense, but post offense is becoming a lost art form in the league. How many scary offensive post players are there left? Very few, you don't face one every night. Maybe not even weekly. So I'm not sure how much that holds up. But I am interested to go back and see which guy is better via the eye test.
Sources say Kings/Brewer talks actually broke off BEFORE serious offer stage. Brewer then re-engaged w/Rockets, where he wanted to be along
