The triangle is sustainable. You can change little nuances in it, but it will always work.

You hit the nail on the head talking about defense. That's the problem.
The Pels in particular should be alright on defense next year regardless of Monty. Jrue should have Rondo with KG levels of success on the perimeter. With AD inside the perimeter guys can take way more chances and Jrue is already a skilled defender as is.
I just feel like the 90s were in a way the prime of the NBA and that coaching from that era should still work. Sure the game has gotten faster and there are way more shooters but that's on the athletes and that's just how the play. Old coaching philosophies should still work today. IDK if any of that made sense.

Remember when I said defense is the problem?

Monty has AD spend LOTS of time defending outside the paint.

Don't ask me why, because I have no idea why.

Its because you don't have perimeter defense. Roberts and Gordon aren't good. And AD is both your best perimeter and post defender as

I thought I agreed with you, same thing I was saying earlier in the year. But ever since Jrue went down, AD is now defending the perimeter less than before. Which is obviously just Monty tinkering with the defense, but it's a dumb strategy. The fact that he doesn't cross match doesn't help either.

Nets literally have four guys with a foot in the paint on every Pelicans possession and Monty is all like

Only took him 39 minutes but he finally got Babbitt and Davis on the floor together.
