Like 30 years before we were born. Nobody here really has any idea what the league was like back then.

he was a god among mortals and bill russell who could be argued as the smartest player to ever play had the upper hand on wilt

thats why i always take bill over wilt and usually say hes the best ever.

Here is a little snippet from my Pels/Kings review as the Kings went on a 8-0 before closing out the 3rd quarter with a one shot strategy to end the quarter. It's the difference in Rudy Gay the Raptor and Rudy Gay the King.

Sacramento gets the ball back, and for their third offensive possession in a row they run the same play AGAIN. And for the third straight time, they get points out of it. They get points out of it differently each time as well.

This time Thomas elects to use the screen, and Aminu steps out:

I am not sure what went through Thomas' head next, maybe he thought Rivers switched onto Rudy Gay, or maybe he knew that Rivers would get two feet into the key to cut off middle penetration. Either way, he picked up his dribble, turned to his right and got the ball to an open Rudy Gay.

Truth be told, Gay had an open shot here:

But perhaps this is the difference between Rudy Gay the Raptor and Rudy Gay the King. He could have easily turned around and taken the jumper, but instead he posts Aminu up, turns baseline and after another fake away from the baseline, hits a nice hook shot.

That's where he was once Gay completed the pivot. He was actually late on the recovry, believe it or not.

He's always ahd excellent physical skills, he's just always lacked the necessary IQ to be a real impact player. Being late to recover shows that. On the next possession the Kings ran that same set and Aminu made the correct recovery in the correct amount of time and forced Gay into a bad elbow jumper. That's kind of rare for Aminu though.
