when a player is as hot as melo was(especially in basketball), you just keep going. dont pass the ball. keep scoring.

Can't believe people are on Melo's case for the zero assists.

It's just that it encompasses Melo's career. All scoring, no teamwork. It's why he'll never win a title as the lead dog.

Sounds like what people used to say about Kobe.
With the right team around him, a great scorer like Melo could very well win a title.

Hell, Durant and him still have about the same career assists average. And Durant came rather close to winning one.

I agree with this honestly.

I can't see him ever winning anything significant besides a gold medal.

And yet how long has Kobe been a ferocious defender? And hasn't Durant become quite a good defender in recent years?

Melo doesn't even exist on the defensive end. He does not belong in the same sentence as guys like Kobe and Durant.

I agree that Melo doesn't look like the player that's bound to lead a team to the finals and a title right now. But I think a lot of those preconceived notions just come from him being on pretty damn mediocre teams for a while now. If you look at the champions of the past couple of years, everybody pretty much has a future hall of famer as the second guy, with the exception of the Mavs and Pistons (maybe even the Mavs if you count Kidd, but he was past his prime).  If he gets a good team around him, things could look a lot different.

Dirk isn't even a good defender himself, and he got to the promised land.

That's why Chandler Parsons will never win a title.

Dirk didn't have the reputation of a selfish scorer, but he was in the same category as a guy who couldn't lead a team to a title.

Melo's Nuggets gave those champion Lakers all they could handle and more.

Funny how this discussion is about Carmelo Anthony, not Chandler Parsons.
