Could of just been a chance to test Vince.. who knows at this point.. Kafka has played well since being drafted, he doesn't have to prove much more.
If it was to test Vince I'd say he passed.

Didn't play like shit either and he was efficient with the ball and picked up yards on the ground.

We haven't played well at all.

We looked good against a shitty Bengals team but that's about it.
Did you actually expect them to look good with a bunch of inexperienced Rookies playing in only their second NFL game??? Especially against the Jets defense of all teams, that was a good test for them, and it was good for Dalton to experience those poor playing conditions, especially in the NFL.

Why? Because we are an inexperienced team? Might not look good right now but all I want to see is improvement, I didn't expect them to win the Super Bowl this year. But, we have a good defense that can keep us in games with a powerful running game. I mean, even with all of the Rookies on offense, we can't be much worse than the Jets offense.

You're so annoying. One second you're talking about how the Bengals are going to get Andrew Luck and then now you act like everything is gravy and you guys are going to compete.

1. Your defense isn't great and you lost your best corner.
2. You don't have a powerful running game.
3. Your offense isn't nearly as good as the Jets, not even close. We have two of the best offensive linemen in the game, Shonn Greene and LT is a nice RB duo, Santonio Holmes, Plaxico Burress, Dustin Keller, and Derrick Mason are nice offensive weapons for a QB who was drafted in the top 10 that is heading into his 3rd season, the year most QBs breakout.

I never said that, all I'm saying is I don't think the team is as bad as most people think, but if they are THAT bad, I would be more than happy with Luck. I'm not going to believe they suck that bad until they go out there and show it. I want to see them do well, I'm just hoping we have a better season then what most people would think. I would look at 6-7 wins as a positive this year.

1. The Bengals had a top 5-10 defense in '09 and were decimated last year by injuries. Zimmer has really turned this defense around. It is a solid defense that can keep us in games. We won the division and swept the division in '09 by great defense and a good running game.
2. You are saying Benson and Scott aren't a great RB duo? That is an idiotic statement. He's had over 1,000 rushing yards the past 2-3 seasons.
3. That's not saying much, because the Jets offense is a laugher. I never said our offense was as good, even if it was that wouldn't be saying much, especially comparing it to the Jets. What good is an OL/WR's when the QB can never get them the ball anyways?

As far as the annoying part, I wouldn't be talking much, I think most here can vouch for how annoying you generally are.

You guys are going to be terrible. It's not even debatable. Andy Dalton is not ready for the NFL and I don't think he ever will be. 6-7 wins isn't happening, get that out of your head.

You're talking about 09 like the fact that you guys were bad enough to get the 4th pick in the draft this past season doesn't matter. You guys are a hell of a lot closer to last year's team than 09's.

Cedric Benson is currently in jail, has never had a YPC over 4.2 and his YPC this past season was 3.5. It's only going to get worse since you don't have a passing game whatsoever this season. Bernard Scott is 27 and has 135 carries to his name, he's not a guy you can rely on until proven otherwise.

The Jets offense isn't a laugher. We've had one of the top running games the past two seasons and that is going to continue. Mark Sanchez is only getting better which is only going to help our offense. Not to mention that Santonio/Plax/Mason is better than Santonio/Bray/Hurt Cotchery so we should have an improved passing game if Sanchez can develop chemistry with Plax and Mason.

EDIT: Not to mention Mark Sanchez took a giant shit on your defense when we played. 12/20 for 173 yards and 2 TDs with no picks.

If it doesn't, then it doesn't. Not much I can do about that. But, I know this team better than anyone else, so when I say I believe they can win at least 5 games, I mean it. I know we aren't good, I don't need to get anything out of my head, I already know it. We are in rebuilding mode right now. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the current situation that the team is currently in. Since you know nothing about the Bengals, our entire offense has been based off of him for the last several years because we couldn't pass the ball, while we haven't had a ton of success, Benson has easily been a bright spot for this team. Cedric Benson is currently in jail? Big woo, your team just signed a WR that has been in prison for years. Cedric is serving his time now so he doesn't miss any regular season games, which is smart.

We were in so many games last year, I can't tell you how many games we lost by 7 points or less, we could have easily been 10-6, but we weren't. So again, it's easy for someone to talk about another team when they have no idea in reference to the team. It's real easy to base it off of the record and history, isn't it? We all know, no teams even come close to yours. I'm not impressed with the Jets offense, doesn't matter who they have at WR, RB, OL, they still are nothing to be scared of. I just think it's funny how you think you can trash anyone's team, and you always 'think' you have reasons on why you believe an individual team sucks, but yet when people bash any of your teams, it's always 'No, we are great, we don't have any weaknesses." With the offense you have and the decline your expecting with your defense this year, looks like I'm not going to be the only one in for a long year.

I am NOT saying the Bengals are going to have a good season, they are a work in progress, I just don't want them to suck THAT bad, like 1-3 wins. The only positive I can come up with, is we would get Luck, if we suck that bad, which I don't think we will, not 0-2 wins bad.

You knowing them better than everyone else on this board is negated by your homer goggles for them. Winning 5 games and you're admitting that you guys aren't good and that you're rebuilding yet you got all upset when I said that you guys were a shitty team. Are the Bengals like a brother or something where only you can make fun of them but if anyone else does you get upset?

I know a lot about the Bengals. I know that the one good season Cedric Benson has ever had you guys were good and when he sucked last season you guys sucked. Carson actually played fairly decent in 2009, Andy Dalton won't even come close to that and teams will be able to just key in on Cedric Benson even though he isn't something that you really need to watch.

You were in 8 of your 12 losses, but in 6 of those 8 the teams you lost to were Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Tampa Bay, Indy, and New Orleans, all teams that are clearly better than you so it's irrelevant.

Again, I know what I'm talking about. It's real easy to base it off your lackluster roster, that's for sure. Of course I think the Jets are one of the top teams, they actually backed that up last season, unlike the 4-12 Bungles. I don't care if you're not impressed with the Jets offense, it's going to be good again and it will be better than last season's. I just think it's funny that you think I think that my favorite teams are perfect. I'm not going to argue with someone when they say that the right side of our OL is questionable and our DL is questionable but other than that we don't really have a ton of question marks, unlike the Bungles who have them all over. The Jets are not in for a long year, they'll be in the playoffs just like they have been the past two seasons.

The bolded part is hilarious and is exactly what I'm talking about. You're getting what you want to happen and what you think is actually going to happen confused.

He didn't play against second/third stringers against you guys, considering he is the starting QB and he played against your starting defense.

I think there's a difference between a shitty team and a rebuilding team. The record will probably make it look like we are a shitty team because of all the young players, but if they get better, we could have a bright future on our hands. The Bengals aren't looking at THIS year, they are looking towards the future now. I figured you could lend out some homer goggles, so I thought I'd use them.

You are seriously saying Carson Palmer had a good season in 2009? The team ran the ball a TON, we were a running football team. He barely had a 60% completion %, Barely had 3,000 yards passing, and only had a QB rating of 83.6. For what we asked him to do, being a franchise QB getting paid all the millions of dollars, he was making it by handing the ball off. Of course the numbers don't look horrible, we didn't ask him to do much, because they didn't have the confidence in him to throw the ball. So, again, that's where the stat line comes into play again that you are looking at, Palmer did NOT have a good 2009 season, he was average, at best. As far as Andy Dalton, if he can just keep his mistakes limited, especially INT's, I think the offense will actually be better of, I can't tell you how many pick 6's we gave opposing teams. Now, I'm not going to sit here and bash Palmer, because I like him, but he wasn't helping us win games, we won 4 games with him last year. I was actually one always trying ways to stick up for him and believe in him, when everyone else wanted him gone. Knowing a lot about the Bengals doesn't count for reading up all of the stats, they can be misleading.

As far as being in 8 of them 12 games against those GOOD teams, that only makes me feel even better, to be able to be competitive against teams like that. If you ever want to get anywhere, those are teams you will have to contend with, so thanks for bringing that up. While we lost 99% of them, had one bounce gone our way, we COULD be looking at things differently right now, that's why it's so easy to bash the team off of last years record. I'm not one to go back and wonder what could have been, so we'll just leave it at that. I'm just glad you looked up all of the stats, especially to find the being in 8 of the 12 games that we lost, we all know you didn't know that without finding the stats.

A lackluster roster? Our Offensive line isn't horrible, it's average with some strong players like Andrew Whitworth & Bobbie Williams. We are finally seeing what Andre Smith can do, as long as he can stay healthy. Clint Boling should eventually be the LG and Kyle Cook is a solid Center.

QB - Andy Dalton is a question mark, but I like what he did at TCU and like his leadership, something Carson never had. Hopefully he can transition into a good NFL QB, we don't know until he gets a chance, so say what you want.

RB - Cedric Benson & Bernard Scott are talented running backs that can get the job done, Benson has proved it over the last few years, if it wasn't for him, we might have already joined the club with the Lions at 0-16.

FB - Pressley, he's not great or proven yet, but I really like his blocking, from what I've seen.

WR - A.J. Green, Jerome Simpson, Jordan Shipley, Andre Caldwell, Ryan Whalen is a nice WR core, young & unproven but a ton of upside. I really like our current WR core.

TE - Jermaine Gresham & Chase Coffman are good TE's, especially Gresham. I expect a big season from him in the West Coast Offense. Coffman hasn't really had much of a chance.

DL - Carlos Dunlap, Domata Peko, Geno Atkins, Michael Johnson are solid players, I can't complain much about these guys. Only one I'm not big on that I didn't mention was Robert Geathers.

LB - Rey Maualuga, Keith Rivers, Manny Lawson, Bradon Johnson are all solid players, can't complain about the LB core.

CB - Leon Hall, Nate Clements, Kelly Jennings, Morgan Trent, Adam Jones are solid players, can't really complain about the CB's, many say losing Joseph was a huge deal, it really isn't. The guy could never stay healthy, we generally had backups in there playing for him, I wouldn't have locked him into a large contract either, no matter how stupid it might seem, I like Clements physicality & durability, something Joseph never had. Only thing about Clements that worries me is his coverage, but he should do fine, he's looked good in preseason so far.

S - Reggie Nelson, Chris Crocker, Taylor Mays, Gibril Wilson, Robert Sands, Jeromy Miles are solid players, only one I'm not big on is Chris Crocker. Nelson had his issues in Jacksonville, as we all know but has fit in really well with the Bengals so far and I've liked that addition. Also like the Taylor Mays addition, if Zimmer can get his technique right, it will be a steal for us. He reminds me of a younger Roy Williams, he will lay you out but struggles in coverage, hopefully we can work that out.

K - Mike Nugent - Good kicker if he can stay healthy, he doesn't worry me.

P - Kevin Huber - He's been nailing punts, 77 yards against the Jets, don't need any upgrade here.

So, through all of this, there's been a few positions that could be improved, but lackluster is laughable, the talent is there.

As far as the Jets, the offense is a joke and the defense has clearly carried the team the past few years, so if the defense declines like you've said it's going to, I'd be surprised if the Jets make the playoffs, they surely aren't winning the division.

OK, I'm going to take my BC homer glasses off, for now.

ALSO

He didn't play against second/third stringers against you guys, considering he is the starting QB and he played against your starting defense.
Again, shows how much you know about the Bengals. The ENTIRE secondary was backups on that 98 yard scoring drive the Jets had before the half. Leon Hall wasn't in there, Nate Clements wasn't in there, Chris Crocker wasn't in there, Reggie Nelson wasn't in there and the only starters that were in there during that was on the defensive line, they were shifting guys in and out. So, out of those 173 yards you talked about, 98 of them came against bums. 75 yards against the first team defense?? Impressive!

Lets pad some more stats why don't we!

I took the Bengals are a shitty team a bit too personal, so just let it go. I'm trying to find ways to be positive other than looking at all the negative.

Hey Lions fans, Turk McBride will probably be the starting DE across from Will Smith for part of the season if not the whole season.
